this gos out to all the cops that look down on us not all of you are saints :pointlaug
he perp: Thomas Pfortmiller; Topeka, Kansas
The crime: If you’re going to break the law, you may as well go all out. Pfortmiller, 40, was charged with a whopping 100 felonies and misdemeanors. The officer took $20,000 in department funds that were supposed to be used in drug sting operations. Thing is, the supposed drug buys never actually happened, because the cop used the money to feed his gambling problem. Dozens of suspects in cases he had worked had to be set free because the drug evidence mysteriously went missing.
The verdict: Pfortmiller plea-bargained down to a measly 50 felony counts. He was sentenced to 16 months in prison.

The perps: Shayne Green, Joshua Monday, Gerald Webber, Samuel Franklin and William Carroll; Campbell County, Tennessee
The crime: Like real by-the-book pros, these men burst into the home of Lester Eugene Siler and shoved the 42-year-old ex-con’s head into a fishtank and an unflushed toilet, hooked his nose up to a battery charger, and pointed a gun at his head — all to make him sign papers that would give them permission to search his home. The officers claimed they found drugs, but the charges were dropped after their shenanigans came to light: Turns out Siler’s wife captured the highly illegal ordeal on a tape recorder as the beat-down was happening.
The verdict: All five men were sentenced to more than four years in prison.

I have no problem with authority as long as it isn't being used against me. And we all fall somewhere on the authority chain. At work, at home, in school, in our social circles, etc.

But people in general are a general dissapointment. These sorts of stories no longer surprise me. They really don't cause any sort of reaction in me. It's just me nodding my head while I read it since that's what I expect people to do.

Now, the Japanese megarich guy who let poor Hawaiians use his mansions to live rent free for years.. THAT is the kind of stuff I want to hear about.

Authority has a long history of pardoning or giving totally inadequate punishminets to criminals who were once police or authority figures.

Just look at the record of sentences handed out to SS men after WWII (these examples were staff at the Sobibor extermination camp - 250 000+ killed):

Wolf, Franz, warehouse clerk; arrested in 1964. Accused of personally killing one Jew and helping to murder 115,000 Jews. Found guilty of having assisted in the murder of at least 39,000 Jews. Sentenced to eight years in prison.

Ittner, Alfred, laborer; accused of helping to kill approximately 57,000 Jews. Found guilty of having assisted in the murder of approximately 68,000 Jews. Sentenced to four years in prison.

Dubois, Werner, mechanic; accused of helping to kill approximately 43,000 Jews. Found guilty of having assisted in the murder of at least 15,000 Jews. Sentenced to three years in prison.

Fuchs, Erich, truck driver; accused of helping to kill approximately 3,600 Jews. Guilty of assisting in the murder of at least 79,000 Jews. Sentenced to four years in prison.

Lachman, Erich, mason; accused of helping to kill approximately 150,000 Jews; freed.

Shutt, Hans, salesman; accused of helping to kill approximately 86,000 Jews; freed.

Unverhau, Heinrich, male nurse; accused of helping to kill approximately 72,000 Jews; freed.

Juhrs, Robert, porter and janitor; accused of helping to kill approximately 30 Jews; freed.

Zierke, Ernest, saw mill worker; accused of helping to kill approximately 30 Jews; freed.

Heh..suck it dry...

I feel no apathy for anyone either. I *am* poor. I live paycheck to paycheck with no comfort in between. I expect my situation to change in a year, but for now, I'm a po' mofugga.

I especially feel no apathy for people that complain about how life sucks, but do nothing to turn theirs around or help themselves in anyway.

Basically what they're saying is "Life sucks because no one will give me handouts"

Yeah, some cops are bad.. most are good. In my town, most of the cops are pretty decent. There are some bad apples, but for the most part, they don't ruin the bunch. They stand out like a sore thumb.

The only time you would think the cops around here are dicks is if you're a teenage honda ricer. Or if you're black, I guess. But then, where in America can you be black and live in peace with the police?
