bought a bag of eco thrive charge coco ,advised it was great ,first time using it ,i now have an absolutely fantastic colony of fungus gnats
cheers for that

question is ?
would you go back to the shop and complain ?

Ive had fungus gnats even in canna coco. I have yet to find a brand that I havent had fungus gnats yet. I use Microbe lift BMC (BTi) to eradicate gnats. Usually two treatments is all it needs. I also use og biowar foliar pack as a drench and that works too.

i dont think it is the manufacturers fault ,,more the shops storage facility ..
totally new grow ,,
should i complain they sold me a bag of coco full of fungus gnats ?

They might blame it on you. Ive had that happen to friends. They buy a bag of coco and they get gnats and they tell the store and they tell you something like, "Your grow room must be dirty."
They are not that hard to wipe out. Chances are even if you buy coco at a different spot it will have gnats dormant in there. Ive had gnats even in the damn bricks. I have recently started using hot water but I havent used that coco up yet so I cant tell you if it works or not.

When you grow and don't pasteurize your medium,
and get gnats, I say lesson learned.

Next time, pasteurize your medium.

I pasteurize my soil too, and add back bennies.

always use 1ml of light bleach not the thick gel looking stuff to 5 gallons of feed for the first few feedings will steralize your coco of any nasties.
works every time.
after that use fungi or other living culture you may be wanting to use
alternatively mix with perlite... perlite will tear up any critters in the coco.
