Bad Air and Enviornment = Yellow Leaves

Growing pot in an indoor enviornment can be tricky.....what kills the spirit for the novice grower is the fact we have have all put seeds in our mothers flower pots on the window sill in shitty soil,or in the neighbors garden...maybye even thrown them out our window and a month later there they are....Thriving with no assistance..All of this with out using Stump remover or Boron......then we invest time, money, and alot of love doing an indoor grow only to see less than satisfactory results..We get bummed...
Remember!
You must recreate the outdoor enviornment just like good ole mother nature or for your plants or they will suffer...
This is the stuff that isnt in books or on information websites and you wont find it in High Times ( ive read them all and they are all 99% worthless)..."You gotta grow to know".. Hands on experience is THE ONLY WAY to learn to grow, encountering problems seeing them first hand and then diagnosing them until you fix them or kill them..Flowering sick plants does not sound like a good idea...why not figure out how to grow a healthy plant first ...then flower them.....
Heres my practical advice based on a recent experience I had while starting my current room a 12 by 12 bedroom "converted"......Im adding pictures as well..I had the same problem for about 30 days continuing yellowing of lower leaves nothing helped....I have grown for years and I was stumped...I checked the roots and they were small and shallow after 40 days...
Took some pics today 4 ya.....This happened to me this week...
Click on the pics for larger view...
You can see in the pic the plants lost 4 levels of Fan leavesand yellowing continued every day almost before my eyes....

My humidity was 55%+ but unstable
My temp was 80* but unstable
Soil was PH 6.5 ish

Couldnt figure out why they werent growing right....

I added this fan in front of the closet..on speed 2 and faced it at the wall next to the plants and opened the closet door all the way...

I covered the windows ( which i was doing anyway) was going to wait until i had enough stock to actually need the whole room...was waiting to hook up the major equipment CO2,Vortex,etc......you can see what that got me...

Problem solved.......Within 2 Hrs I saw new growth on all of my plants....
My humidity went up to 67% ...The plants were breathing and transpiring again..Happy Moms.....
Temp is at 79-82

The new growth might burn a bit because all of the built up nutes in the soil....but i wont flush it ( that will make it worse) ill let the plant take care of them..

There were no roots 3 days ago.. you can see the 2 layers ( one on top) old growth (bottom half...all new and healthy)

The plants are transpiring better.....That was my problem was bad air circulation....It wasnt constant and stable.. and i have fans in the closet ...but there wasnt enough air flow "in and out" that closet ....Now the whole room is circulating and even...temp and humidity is stable and constant
Before my plants werent eating....
Stayed wet for days and days....even with light watering
Showed multiple defs...
Bad roots.....

So before you flush those plants again or give them more Boron check the Ph of your soil again...pull one plant out of the pot see if the roots are healthy and growing...make sure you DONT overwater ....make sure soil is airated ie Perilite.....if you make changes to the soil....just change one for a day or 2 see if you notice any positive changes...Pot is a weed it wants to grow fast and any positive changes will be seen in the creation of new growth fast..
It is my experience and based on what i see in these forums that most of the new growers problems are all suffering from over watering , bad enviornment and or over fertilization adding to PH problems....All creates lockout or lock up.....or Sick Plants
So fast heavy flushing will not help and rarely does that is a last resort solution...AND What grower under feeds his plants....Really....cmon....
Its not Lack of anything ....so no mag or boron should be needed...
Good Luck....Stay with it

I built a high tech stealth grow box....It was perfect....No odor.....No one will know i have anything to do with growing pot....I smoked a joint and looked at my creation and reveled in it..........................think about it...

nice post Vangrow.

No grower should grow without ventilation, I tried once and got real curly leaves.

All the plant wants to do is perform chemical reactions with the nutes water and air it gets. The less air it gets, the less photosynthesis will occur and the slower the plant will grow.

I would never advise pulling a plant out of its pot however. This is extrememly stressful and should be avoided at all costs. Inspect roots during transplants and only then.

This may be part of my problem all along.

This may be part of my problem all along.

Hello All,
here is a couple of pics of a clone I received Nov 18th.

I have managed to almost kill this poor thing several times.
I most recently repotted & flushed. The plant was rootbound somewhat.
I flushed w/4 gal of water on Saturday. Have not given it anything else sense.
The reason I flushed, the plant was yellowing very badly, had not rec. water for 9 days. For I was fearing I had over watered again.
I bought a 6 bulb T5 & have it about 6" above.
Use Floaranova grow 1 tsp/gal in distilled water.
When I checked the nuted water's ph 6.2
I gave it nutes two weeks in a row.
so now I have flushed, I guess my question is should I nute it again now? Even though it is still wet from Flushing with water?

Now after I read this thread, I think this is my problem. She is needing more fresh air. She is holed up in the back corner of a basment.
I do have a 6" desk fan blowing over the tops.
Temps run 80-81 w/light on & gets down to 60-62 at night. I switched from 24/7 under cfls to 18/6 using the T5.

Any and all thought on what I am doing wrong would GREATLY be appreciated!! I can grow some nice tomato's, but this is my first grow. So far I have not done well with this clone. Thank gosh the bagseeds are doing well. :chin: :joint:

Peace, Luv & Nugs

Van Grow, great post. I just went through the same problem. Growing in a large closet, in a totally different climate. Summer was great (ac) winter have heat problems as well. Could not figure out problem. I just added another fan and open door 7 hrs during the light and much happier plants. Thank you.

Blackmelo,

how many plants in the room and do you clip them? Please, give some details. My room is 4x5 and 5'9". Thank you for the great post
