Bad air? Air poison? Does it exist?

My new area is a attic and I notice sometimes when I go in there my skin itches and I will break out a bit on my face, does anyone know what this is?

I had some plants in the attic that I killed that were growing slower than normal, I think I stunted them which is why they were slow, but I am still curious about the air, whatever it is making me break out, could it effect the plants at all?

Thanks

Edit: If there is air poison would sealing off the grow area with poly work to get rid of it? Then having an intake fan with a carbon filter to filter out airborne particles.

You probably have fiberglass insulation common in newer construction. You will need to take precautions on breathing it as well as covering yourself better. This can be done but take my advice here first!

Good idea. Get really well dressed so that all of your skin is covered, including your face. Wear a breathing mask for painting or something along those lines, and you should be fine. You are probably very sensative to the fibers. Make sure if you live in an older house it isn't the old spray in aspestice (spelling?)- that stuff will kill you. Just make sure before you go tromping around up there mixxing it all up into the air. Be safe and good luck!

Yeah definently be SURE you don't have asbestos in your attic...
They used that shit for years and it is very, very, bad for you...
If you see blown insulation it's not guranteed it's asbestos and you can have it tested...
Fiberglass insulation will make you itchy as hell and can cause a scrachy throat that kind of thing...
Your actually not suposed to poly the roof or walls in the attic, needs to be able to breathe properly.
I supose you could do it, just be sure you have vents on the ends of your attic to make sure that the air will exchange..
Maybe put a cheap fan in front of the attic vents just to keep the air moving out..
If it gets too humid in there the insulation will mold and cause you MAJOR problems, thats part of the reason why they don't poly attics...
Hope this helps.
Long sleeve shirt, gloves, pants tucked into socks, and a mask...
Sounds overkill but thats how it is... :D

Asbestos is a possibility, It is an old house and we did have asbestos problems a couple years ago.

However the fiberglass is possible too.

I am thinking about moving it out of the attic...

The ceiling has fiberglass insulation and some of it is ripped open, exposing the fiberglass.

The floor has vermiculite insulation, which COULD contain asbestos, however I am thinking about just moving out of the attic and saying fuck it... I don't feel like risking major health problems.

I know when i trim a bunch of weed or if i am digging around in my plants i get real itchy some times. Sometimes if i trim for long enough my arms look like they are breaking out. lol maybe i am allergic to weed.

Air poison exists,it happens when I feed my dog canned food instead of dry.

as well as all the other stuff it could, and i mean its a very small chance, be something to do with the bulb you run, i saw a while back some mh bulb that had a peak in the purple spectrum that caused skin irritation if you were exposed to it for 10-15 mins.
very unlikly but still.

Vermiculite insulation? Now thats some expensive moisture retentive insulation lol.I think you mean blown cellulose insulation,it'll clog your snout bigtime but unless allergic to paper,it shouldn't give you any reaction.Look at it closely, its just ground up newspaper lol (if its cellulose insulation). Its the fiberglass,I had a short stint with it straight out of high school. The thing you must know about fiberglass insulation is never to use warm/hot water when trying to wash it off, cold water only.Hot water will open your pores and the fibers will get in there, then you know what itching really is lol!
