Back in action

So, unfortunately I lost all of my old info and have to start fresh here, but I am glad to be back.

A little back story. I started some years ago in college with a little 2x2 grow in my closet. Tent, HPS lighting, 4" fan, scrubber, etc. I didnt skimp on my gear, with the help of you guys, and a guy well call SR at the local grow shop. I started with some marginal feminized autoflowering seeds, and eventually bought some better genetics. I kept 1 pheno of DGS's ST/C99 and a few phenos from an OJD G13 haze mix pack. These 3 strains would become staples among the community over the next two years. My small closet grow was abandoned once leadership obligations called, and a buddy and his father picked up where I left off. Their ego's eventually got in the way of things, and I decided to part ways... just in time. I am sure you can guess what happened next. Thats what happens when you break rule #1.

Growing is my passion, everything about it. The complexities, the beauty, the infinite knowledge. Everything about this plant is beautiful. Fortunately, I am now in a position to take up my passion again.

I have a space available that can hold a 4x8 and a 4x2 tent. The majority of the product will be used for non combustion concentrates and cooking bases. As i stated before, its been some time, and while I have an idea of what I would like, I am not sure the specifics to get me there.

Due to the lack of veg space, I was planning on a SOG. Two 4x4 tables, either 36 8" pots per tray (is this too big?). Each tray will hold 1/2 flower cycle. Three 600's or two 1000's in the flower tent. 4x2 fluoro in the veg/clone tent.

Since I dont have seeds or clones yet, I wont be able to determine any specifics regarding the actual growing. I am seeking advice on optimizing the set up I am capable of fitting in my space, in hopes of achieving the GPW mark.

Welcome back. Glad you found your way back into growing, there really is nothing better than being able to grow your own green.

I would have to suggest trying coco out - you can use small pots and set up a drip system, which is really easy to build, and feed your plants 3-5x a day doing drain to waste, it actually does not waste a small much nutrients as you would think.

Also when running DTW setup you know your plants get the correct dose of nutrients each time. Check out some of the stickies in the coco section. I think 3 600s would be a good bet. I have a 3.5x8 area and I use 2 600s there, I just like 600s better than 1000s.

Right on, big fan of coco, used that previously. I will definitely look into the drip system, as hand watering in a SOG would be a pain! Do you use trays/tables to college the waste?

Since this is my first time doing SOG, I am not 100% sure how much root space the plans will need (yes I know some of this may depend on the strain, slightly...). Was thinking 36 8" or 64 6", per 4x4 tray. I suppose I can grab a few of each and see which yields better. Just trying to take as much guess work out as possible so I can focus on dialing in the confounding variables.

I have gotten 4 ounce plants in coco in 1 gallon pots. if You feed multiple times per day you could go with a smaller pot. For sog 8 in pot would work fine.

Deciding to go with organic soil, to start at least. If I like it, I will likely go to a drip/blumat system. The plan is to run 32-40 plants in the 4x8 in 3-4 gallon pots, under 2 1000Ws. Heres what the design/shopping list looks like based on my space. I am pretty out of the loop nowadays in regards to which brands are best... well, in most regards actually. So any input would be greatly appreciated, especially if you prefer another brand to what I have selected.
