Autofoliar / Ideal foliar feeding schedule

Hi icmag :tiphat: My grow partner came up with a sweet idea the other day and I was surprised when I wasn't able to find any mention of it on icmag or the farm, or really google in general. Maybe I wasn't using the right search terms or maybe it's just slipped everyone's mind.

the idea is automated foliar feeding. basically a sprinkler system around the base of the plants that sprays a foliar solution upwards to the bottoms of the leafs at regular intervals.

questions that I have for you brilliant stoners: :smoke:
-anyone have experience with this? references?
-any improvements to the plan? I'll be building this fairly soon and i'll try to update this thread
-am I correct in thinking that foliar sprays will uptake better through the bottoms of the leafs? I also think that'll help by avoiding interaction between the light and the leaf and the foliar.

and the main question:
What's the ideal foliar feeding schedule? how much is too much? better for the plants/equipment to spray small amounts often or decent sized amounts less frequently? hourly? every other hour? at night? more at sunrise? Any input is appreciated, and if this goes well I'll be feeding my research back into the forum with a DIY how to.:ying:

My only concern is vapour and water droplets hitting glass or bulbs, and stains from the feeding affecting equipment, good idea for big commercial vreenhouses where they adopt a similar practice.

I love foliar feeding, but feel that u can over do it. I feel that a plant will not put as much energy into building a strong root system if they are getting lots of food thru their leaves. I foliar about once a week with "rocket fuel" thru an atomizer.
