Autoflowers and Mold

Well I was wondering how well they do w/ mold susceptability. I have Masterlows outsided at 39 degrees and it gets really dewy overnight. So far I see no mold, but was wondering what other peopes experiences are.

List your strain and how well it did for you, or just talk about your thoughts and hypothesis' about mold and autoflowers.

Figured it would be a good topic, because if most of the strains get moldy in humid climates or more northern climates, than something has to be done to improve.

I got mold in my lowrider 1, had it in greenhouse. i forgot to open a few windows for air, for 3 days :wallbash:

I grew a crop of masterlow earlier this year and had some problems with budrot. It affected indoor and outdoor plots. Maybe like 50% of the plants had it.

Big dense buds do not like humidity, I guess.

I ran masterlows outside before with no problem, just keep an eye on them and don't let them stay wet for too long.

It is hard to keep an eye on my micro pheno due to being so small and guerrilla grow, but I don't think it will have a problem.

I plan on growing more bluestreak and masterlows, but get pretty worried about the mod, especially if they even mold indoors.

Gilles what time outside did you grow your masterlows? What is your humidity outside and inside?

Just trying to get a picture of how bad mine might be potentially affected.

I harvested mid June...so I planted at the first part of April. It was hot and wet here at 33 degN this spring. Temps were in the 90's day and 70's at night. Humidity was 65-95%. Indoors would have been about the same humidity because I pull air directly from outside. It was raining three or four times a week during the grow.

It was a terrible spring to be having buds that dense.

Indoors was partly my fault, I feel like I could have prevented it if I had been on top of things.

I usually shut my indoor grow down during spring/summer but I tried to squeeze one more run in...

Also, don't get the wrong impression, I didn't loose much to rot. Out of 13 plants I lost less than 14g's total, I would estimate. It didn't show up until like day 55-60, I battled it until day 68 or so, then just harvested as they were very close at that point.

Here is one of the outdoor masterlows (auto-topping pheno)

Here it is trimmed

My Lowlife F3 seed crop may be a 100% loss because of bud rot, I still hope to get a few seeds...sigh, I can count the # of days it HAS NOT rained this summer on my hand!

indeed.

I think I am going to try and do some amateure breeding to take care of this, because most ppl who do grow auto's outside live in climates that are prone to budrot.

Crossing to an esbe strain for instance would hopefully help I think (i know it isn't as simple as just crossing there need bx's and such)

Hopefully SaH or mdanzig might have some good info about the mold, because it seems to affect auto's real easy obviously being low to the ground, dense buds early on.

Crossing to an esbe strain is a good thing to do. I did almost the same, i have crossed it with a stable danish hybrid of diff. strains, hopefully it will pay off next season.

Lowryder sucks because of the sensitivity for molds. This year i pollinated a Finola strain with Danish Gold, which is a light sensitive variety i've noticed. We will see what the future brings :D
