Autoflower Grow Questions

I have grown regular strains twice and had very good results. I would consider myself an above average grower.

I am new to autoflowering strains but I am greatly intrigued since I only want to have this room setup for no more than 9 weeks.

Please review my plan and let me know if you would do anything different etc...

My plan is to get 5 Lowlife Auto White Russians feminized. I will plant in pro-mix in 2 liter soda bottles. I will veg for 1-2weeks with 2 150w CFL's (blue spectrum). And then go the rest with a 400w HPS Hortilux, maybe add another one if I feel the need to. I will keep it on 20/4 the entire time as I have read that is the best cycle. I don't know if I will transplant or not, I'd imagine I would but I don't know if it would be best to keep them in 2 liter soda bottles becuase if I did transplant to a 2-3gal container the stress from the transplanting would hurt the growth. This is something I have no idea how Autoflowers will handle it.

I am pretty good with nutrients and from what I've read, use the grow nutes up until week 2.5/3 and then bring on the flower nutes.

Another question I had is the potency factor. I know some people rip on Autoflowering strains because of its Ruderalis heritage, but with something like Lowlife's White Russian autoflower, I can only assume it will pack a punch because of the AK47/White widow genetics. Nothing like serious seeds original White russian (which I have grown, 6 females, 2lbs under 800w) but something that will still get me s t o n e d.

Since these 5 are feminized, can I expect all 5 to be females, or will 4/5 be female?

Pics to come of my setup. I plan on ordering the seeds tomorrow unless someone convinces me to order a better strain!

sounds pretty good .... all 5 should be female (in the perfect situiation) but sometimes one doesnt germinate or one will die due to stress

expect 3/5 4/5 successfull plants ... if u get 4 or 5 u can still be happy^^

i advise you to go with fem lowryder #2. the only seed co. that actually sells female seeds when they are supposed to be(from my experience).

also i wouldnt give nutes until after 3 weeks, your soil should have enough nutrients to last 3 weeks. auto's are extremely sensitive to nutrients compared to standard strains so you will need to go easy until you find what works best for you.

also id plants your auto's in the pots they will finish in, ive tried both and starting off small and potting up WILL affect your yield.

Really?? Anyone else have experience with Lowlife's fems not being female?

Pro-mix has little to no nutrients in it, I believe. Although I do understand where you are coming from saying to be light on the early nutes. I usually start to feed when the cotyledons turn yellow. I just re-arranged my box for this. and made it 4 ft taller.

The dimensions are about 3 feet wide, 2.5ft deep and around 6-7ft tall give or take. I'll have the exact measurements tomorrow with some pics up once all of the intake/outakes are sealed and its as air tight as I can make it. I will be using a 6" vortex as my extra 8" is overkill for this box, and I will just use my 5ft Carbon Filter... I have a smaller one but this 5footer is already sitting there ready to go.


Time is unfortunately the biggest concern here. I am too paranoid to grow for longer than 2.5 months or so, I just can't do it. I also can't go as big as I want, but oh well, I'd rather settle for more peace of mind knowing I'm keeping it small.

you should be prepared for it taking longer than 2.5 months, and don't rush the final stage. Let them finish!

I've grown four different AFs now from different seed cos - not tried the feminised, but then I wanted a few blokes to make my own seeds with.

Average grow time is 8.5 weeks from start to finish. This was the case with Short Stuff #1 & MDanzig's Blue Ryder (which is indica heavy - all my mates are raving about how kick ass it is). Lowrider #2 and Russian Rocket Fuel average 9 weeks, with one RRF likely to take 10.5 weeks.

Cooking for 20/4 u should get a great harvest, certainly be in in 2.5 months - unless you go for something hideously tall that takes forever to brown.

Where can I get short stuff #1 x mdanzig's blue ryder?

In the most ideal situation I want to go with at least 6-7 females. I don't want to order 10 regular AF Seeds and have more than 5 be male... that would be terrible. So I am sticking with the safety of having 5 feminzed, hoping I can get 5.

I do have a 1000w Hortilux, but would that be overkill for 5 AF White Russians?

Well if your running a 1000w you should try to fill the room up, it wouldn't be overkill as much as it would be wasteful. Also grow in bigger pots 2 liters is way too small. Autos have difficulty producing if they have severe root restrictions. I've seen 3 gallon pots completely rooted from autoflowering strains.

grow in at least a few gallons if u want a nice yeild and get your veg cycle perfect, ph your fertz .. u should be good, i think your white russian autos might take your full 75 max time alloted u say for your grow, id recommend something with auto ak for yeild, i just went with dieseals and im at day 66 and letting them go for a few more but orderd them for quickness, it not that they wouldnt have been ready at day 63 or even nice at 56 days but i want yeild and i could have just gotten ak and been having alot more to pull down in the next few days. just my two cents-

you're better off getting 10 regular seeds. start all 10 and end up with 5-7 females. 800 watts is over kill too. 400 watts is perfect.

My AF White Russians from Lowlife are going on 2.5 months and still got awhile on them... 6 26w CFLs on the one with temps in the high 70s low 80s on FF big bloom.... slow going...

Picking up some growbags and more promix as well.

Finishing the box hopefully today... it will have a kick ass exhaust/carbon scrubber setup, I am using a 6" vortex and a huge 5 ft can fan carbon scrubber.

Ill have to work on the intake a little bit, haven't really finalized that situation yet.

Dog5star, how was the potency on your AF harvests?

I grew all of mine in a mix of 12-14 hours natural light and 4-6 hours 400w HPS. I don't have a dedicated grow room at the moment and am not confident that I can enforce 12/12, hence my choice to go with AF.

How potent? Working on the premise that most Amsterdam grass = 10/10 and brick = 4/10, I'd give the AFs:

Blue Ryder = 7.5
Short Stuff = 7
Lowrider #2 = 7

I've no doubt it would be stronger grown exclusively under lights. In my exp it's not the potency that's the issue, it's the yield and as long as you're a good dad that won't be an issue with the LR#2 (av 30g) or the Blue Ryder (av 50g). The Short Stuff - max height 12", cute but at 15g a plant not a big earner.

Also, go for 10 litre pots minimum.

I've got one Russian Rocket Fuel which is currently at 10 weeks from sprouting and still going strong. I reckon 11.5 weeks to finish. But then it's a totally different pheno to the rest of the RRFs, being very much predominantly sativa (24" tall and the same across, the rest are all under 15"). It's quite spidery, a lot of branching and the buds have taken ages to fatten up. It's just starting to brown off at the tops now. All of the small leaves are covered in trichs, and most of the big ones too. Quite how I'm going to dry it I don't know!
