hi all this is kinda gona sound strange but its something ive noticed my freind handed out some fresh auto seeds he is a good source some were put in soil some in paper towels ok here we go some took with in 2-3days and the rest didnt seem to do anything this reminded of when my freinds bought autos 3-4 years ago and on the forums people were moaning about germ rates of autos so the ones i had left that didnt pop i just put them in a big pot of soil and left them i still gave them water like i was watering other plants now one month on they have all started to grow im still thinking like all the years of seeds that didnt do anything after 12days we normaly put them in the bin but now i think i will wait one month before i do anything is it because autos have tufer shells or is it a protection thing for autos it does seem strange after one hole month anyone with the same experince thanks

auto's do have tougher shells but also its thought they have a "trigger" built in to stop them germinating straight after falling off the plant, after-all germinating seeds in winter wouldnt be very useful

Where did you hear the part about the built in trigger to stop them from germinating?

That sounds like a myth.

it may well be a myth, but i may also be true. ive never had seeds germ straight from a plant, or the couple of weeks after. but a month or 2 after and they germ straight away

Really fresh seeds are not good to germinate.
Alot of people have spoken about this in detail so you can either google or use the built-in search engine.

You need to dry your seeds properly and cool them to simulate a winter's passing, then they will have excellent germination.

Weird, i've had seeds fall off plants and fall into the container it was in, and sprout right there. I've also picked them right off before it was even harvested and sprouted those right away.

When seeds are mature, they should be ready to use. I have never heard of a "trigger" that makes seeds think its winter so they wont germ. Thats an old wives tell I am pretty sure.
