I would like to set up a grow room in the attic from my research the temps seem to be the biggest problem. I would tap in to the my central heating and a/c supply for the intake and run the exhaust through a carbon scrubber to the outside. So when the heat or a/c isn't on the room would still continue to suck air from the house via 8 in boost fan.I look at it like adding an additional room to the house, just in the attic. I would first use plywood 5/8 and just screw to the rafters then on the inside possibly sheet rock or use the white/black plastic and the outside put insulation. Do you think my temps would be manageable attacking them this way in the summer it can get 100+, winter mid to high 30s for the lows. See ghetto drawing for better Idea the roof slopes down as you can see.I would use 400 hps for flowering and cfls for veg, i would also seal small area for veg space. There would also be 2 fans oscillating atleast one in each room. any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

I think you could swing it... however, a few things come to my mind while reading your idea

What method of growing?
With temps sometimes reaching 100 without a screaming hot HPS going, what grow method were you thinking of? If it's hydro, your water temps are going to be a major problem without a chiller. If it's soil, you're just going to need to make sure the root zone doesnt get excessively hot due to ambients.

Hooking up the A/C line: This would be good in the summer, but in the winter if you ever run the heat the ladies could be in for a rough ride.

Now what I thought would work is what if you simply make a vent in the floor, and in the ceiling of the room below just cover it with a normal/larger AC vent cover. This would allow you to simply connect an inline fan (good sized one) exhausting, and due to the positive pressure inside your home it would create the perfect air flow. This would also allow you to shut off the A/C vent during the winter for the lower room, allowing it to get cooler and keep from frying the ladies above.

I plan on soil, the problem is that it's actually a attic above my garage that isn't cooled, I think in the winter it might get to cool, I normally keep the temps in the house around 75-80 year around.

Ahhh, well in that case perhaps you could still run a duct, only instead of connecting it inline with your A/C simply have it as an opening into another room. Would still provide the same positive pressure benefits as well as maintaining temps even in the winter.

What would be the best light for growing in a attic where temp's will be an issue? I'm looking to just purchase one light for flowering, I was looking at the 2x4 t5 set up with the 3000k bulbs and would use some cfl's for veg. although I read in a t5 post that they used 3k all the way through I plan on growing in soil space isn't an issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If you insulate the room the outside will not affect it, and air cooling the lights makes a HUGE difference in an attic grow. I had 9 400w cooled with a 18kbtu a/c and it did it fine. The main issue was the air movement of window units. They tend to not be that powerful and don't do the job unless oversized so you can get a bigger blower. This is the reason I would suggest an isolated air conditioning rather than using the house a/c. Vent the backside of the a/c rather than the room. A good point made is the central heat will not be needed if you run lights.

Spend the money on a pond liner! The 100.00 is worth the hassle of never having to deal with run away leaks!
