Tonight was a pretty shitty night. It could have turned out much worse than just me being a little freaked out, but luck was on my side. Just tonight I heard a knock at my back door. I thought it was my friend Andrew as he is the only one who comes in that way. My wife and daughter just went to sleep and my mother in law was sleeping in the basement at the time. It was about 11:00 pm.
Luckily I didn't open the back door, but decided to go out the front and call him around. When I went out the front door I noticed the front gate was opened. This is out of the ordinary as Andrew comes in the back gate if he is going to come in the rear door. For some reason I didn't clue in and walk out through the already opened front gate and half way into the back yard. I yelled for him to come to the front door as I waited in the dark alley beside my house and garage for him to walk around to meet me. I got a little nervous when there was a delay for him to come around, and it sounded like more than one person walking by the sound of the unraked leaves that litter my backyard. I was too late to react as from around the corner came three guys with masks over their faces and two of them carrying guns! The third person could have had one, but I didn't notice at the time. I believe his hands were in his pockets. The first thought that popped in my mind was 'not again, I can't believe this is happening!'.
The taller of the three walked up to me quickly with the gun pointed at my face and demanded I give him all my weed. I told him I had no weed and then he took a step forward and placed the gun at my temple. He demanded that I go get it from inside the house. The other guy with the gun stood about three feet from me and the other about five feet. I don't really know what the other two were doing as I was focusing on the gun pressing against my temple.
The weird thing was everything seemed to go in slow motion. I thought out many scenarios in my head before reacting in a split second. Normally i'm pretty dopey after a shot of methadone, but my adrenaline was pumping and there was no way I was going to lead three robbers into my familys home.
Quickly I reached up under the gun man's arm and grabbed for it. I felt the cold steel in my hand and thrusted it away from my head. Then a million thoughts went through my mind in an instant. I thought if I run in the house they could follow me in and then my family would be in danger. If I ran away and over to the neibours house they would probably chase me and it would get them away from my front door. I decided to run and as I ran I yelled 'shoot me if you want'. Now that I think about it I can't believe I yelled that! As I ran I had a vision of bullets going through my back, but not a sound was heard. I stopped at the end of my drive way and turned around and they look confused like they didn't know what to do and were not trying to catch me. I guess they were not expecting it to go that way. I continued up to my next door neibours house, but was quiet as I didn't want the police to be called. They walked quickly by me and the shorter of the three yelled 'were leaving' in a scared tone. I watched them walk far enough away from the house, then ran to my door and closed it up tight. Luckily no police came from the incident.
Now that it is all over I think about what happened and something just didn't seem right. The gun that I made contact with my hand was metal, but when I thrusted it away from me it felt very light. Also, the metal was very smooth and it looked like the gun was brand new. Both guns that the two had were silver plated and looked identical. I am not a gun expert, but I have had a few in my time and I know for a fact most the guns on the street are usually old looking and not brand new semi automatics. In Canada guns like that are hard to come by, and for them both to have identical guns makes me think they could have been pellet guns.
I don't know for sure, but that is the feeling I get when I remember back to making contact with the gun. It didn't feel as solid as a regular 9mm. Who knows, it could have been the real deal - but I thought I would mention it. Anyways, nothing was stolen, no one heard anything and the best part is my family is safe. I am on guard now and if they come back they will be very sorry.
I think I know who set this up. I have an X friend whom I had a falling out with recently go to jail for cocaine possession and traffiking. Just yesterday he got denied bail so that means he is going to loose his house, car, and anything else that he thinks defines him as a successful drug dealer lol. His girlfriend is taking care of his business for him while he is gone but she is not doing too good of a job as she is getting 'high on her own supply' as you could say. He needs money to maintain what he has accumulated so I figure he decided to try it out on me. Actually a couple other people that know him have been robbed lately, so it all fits.
Well, I just thought I would let you all know what happened about two hours ago. I can't really tell everyone about it so I figured I could get it off my chest by writing it out. It seems when you right out things you can better understand what happend.
I have learned something important from this experience. Always be on guard when drugs or money is involved, be careful and trust no one.
