Attack of the Spider Mites!! HELP!!! :dueling:

So my friends have some spider mites attacking their plants.. they have 3 ebb and flow tables over 1 common resavoir. they just added 5 Grape Ape clones to their system and now after a week have noticed some spider mites underneath the leaves. Our friend who supplied them the clones got them from a semi odd source and called my friend warning him because his plants were covered. They notice nothing on the top trays or on the other trays/plants next to the infested table. the clones WERE transfered in bags filled with water up past half the 1" rw cube.. so maybe that killed most of the eggs?? its a rather small infestation that they dont want to get out of hand..
one of my friends wants to toss the infected (grape ape) plants out and take preventitive care on the remaining tables..

my other friend wants to put a peritheum bomb in the room and use a spray of some sort and keep the plants.

financially its not that big of a loss. they have other clones to through in their spot which would not adversly affect their system..

i want some advice from people on here on what they should do...

EDIT: the plants have been vegging under 400watts for 1 week from slightly/if at all rooted clones.

I use "hot shot no-pest strips." I lay some around and cover the grow with a tarp or something similar to enclose the effectiveness of the strips. The active ingredient is dichlorvos, and what i have read about it so far, has not lead me to stop using it. after the initial tarping, for a day if possible, i keep the strips in the room until 2 weeks from harvest. no science to any of this, and i dont know if removin them 2 weeks before harvest really does anything, i just do it because that's what i read someone else doing. anyhow, this is just what i do and it works for me. my town has terrible mite problems.

Do a search on neem oil and it will solve all your problems.

I'd go with the first friends advice, trash the infected clones asap, then pray hard that "the borg" hasnt assimilated the other tables yet, but do take a pre-emptive strike approach on the remaining plants anyway.

do a search on predator mites....they will eat the mites, eggs, and when there's nothing left they die.

neem will work on a smaller infestation, but make sure you keep spraying them because it will look like all mites are gone then eggs will hatch....the best way imo is to spray with neem to kill the mites, rinse your plants, then release the predators to finish the eggs and any mites the might be on any stray leaves,dirt, tables, untensils, ect.

where do the damn mites come from anyway? i seen them just pop up in basements, freshly built closets, spare bedrooms, with no house plants, in the winter, starting from seed....are they always around and live in our houses or what?

they spin a fine web that can reach amazing distances. judging from your post on mites, T2U, and that ~month neglected/webbed up plant, im sure you have seen what hey are capable of first hand. being only microns in size, they can fit through window screening, etc so really if you are in a heavily populated area, by humans or plants, you are not safe from the bastids. i hate em, really they have no useful purpose on this planet that i can think of....can you? death to the borg

Just get Hot shot no pest strips. I faught those fuckers sonce march and spent alot of $$ on sprays and powders and all kinds og nasty shit that didnt work. Spent $12 at home depot for 2 no pest strips and mites are gone. Dont waste time , just get no pest strips and problems are solved

For those of us that aren't rich or have rich uncles, mother nature gave us the Mite Eradicator mix. Been mite-free since the borgs hitched a ride in Thanksgiving day 2005.

Another option, as long as they are in veggie mode, is to raise the humidity. It's a simple fix depending on the area affected. The mites will die a horrible death and all will rejoice
