Assassin Bug?

There are many species of assassin bugs, and last year I got to learn, up close and personal, about the kissing bug. The kissing bug is NOT YOUR FRIEND. I didn't trip when I saw them because I had no idea that there was an assassin bug that would bite people.

That's a box elder beetle, assassin bugs hunt bees and have more mottled colors, but they are both in the True Bug family with the sucking mouthparts and the "x" formed by the wings folding across the back
