Arrested in a Medical State?

I know a lot of people think about moving to a med state. It may seem safer but it's still a grey area. I was wondering what happens if you get arrested and you have no family or anything there. Lose your job and no way to pay the bills etc. You can't just move back "home" due to court dates, or probation/jail sentencing. So what happens?

its not a grey area . there are defined regulations. follow them and dont worry about it. if you go over your limits or draw federal attention than yes you could be screwed. if your a small fish you aint got any worries.i have many years of documented medical history and my rec come from a respected doctor. i will fight and win any case they try and throw at me. had 8 cops inthe house not long ago. they saw my rec and didnt ask anothwer question about my growroom. i moved to cali way back just for med mj. well worth the increased cost of living.

You WILL NOT EVER beat a federal case. I moved to CA and a few weeks later my 100% compliant dispensary owner (owned 2) was raided and shut down. Years later and lotsa money down the drain and life all fucked up he plead guilty to filing a false return and they dropped all the other charges..despite that he will be the first to tell you it don't matter how legit you are if the feds pick you up you are fucked you can cite bullshit medical laws till you are blue in the face they don't give a fuck.

Sounds like you got a consensus here..just learn to grow where you are..there's not any reason to move. Hell I left CA and grow and smoke Wasatch more now than I did when I lived there

I don't mean drawing fed attention.. just little things like being over your dry bud limit and such... or maybe some kind of dispute over selling a pound to dispensaries.

anyways, thanks guys.. always good to hear from you.

unless you draw attention by being flashy and arrogant you get left alone. cops check your rec and its done. bigger fish to fry. i love cali

A friend got busted in Co. for a few plants over the limit because they lost a patient or two and the feds charged them $1k per plant for 8 or 10 plants. They paid it off and so far the DEA has come to inspect one more time but they got the count right and just relaxed and let them count. No more fines. But they are real careful now...

I've learned that if you don't have 50k put aside for your lawyer, you shouldn't fuck around. A public defender isn't getting you out of jail or moving your case along.

I'm not really knowledgeable on the med subject but I heard not too long ago that some judges in MI were straight up ignoring the medical laws and handing out sentences.

I'm not from there so this is just rumor/weed talk to me.

Round here it's straight up illegal, but yes.. those that realize how the business works throw enough cash at the system and back to business as usual.

I am not from Mi...but from Cali-- But from what I have witnessed, it is the ppl that are not Medical Compliant...that are saying the Courts are ignoring their Medical Status-- Go figure--

that's kinda in oakland county, likely... they have a county sheriff, prosecutor & judges that are outspoken against mmj... any reason they can conjure to exclude the defense, they take... right up to denying the ability to testify that they were/are registered patients.

other spots aren't so bad... friendly judges.

unless the rights are outlined in the form of a constitutional amendment... they can trample on the law anytime they see fit... bottom lining it.

not all rosey on the medi-side of things... but certainly does have havens where a person can home grow on the small scale & not really worry about the local cops... can even have them stop by & have nothing bad happen.

and the exact opposite in some places, same state.

I'm in CO and have seen it both ways. stick to your state approved limits and they mostly will leave without any questions. 'play the game' and like any other state you may or may not get caught. besides, in the big med states with dispensaries ... the feds have their targets in plain site and removes a little heat from the small-mid grows.

i fired my lawyer and the judge didnt want me to represent myself without some guidance. so i had a public pretender. i won my case. there are some good ones looking to make a name. but most are overworked and your just a case number. i saved alot of cash. i wouldnt do it again tho LOL this happened when i was younger and cocky . fuck sd undercovers. detective morales your a tool. ha ha
