just torrented some filezzzz

...apparently so

good enough...i guess a mod can delete the thread if they don't like it..

I prefer to not use torrents, not even with a VPN...

For the past several years I've been getting my files from megashares.com which now appears to be going through a death spiral.

Are there any other sites similar to that?

I'm not about to sign up for a share site.Go ahead if you want to,but I'm not doing that.

I saw that Kickass was seized by the US gubbermint (the worlds police force) but heard that it is already back up and mirrored.

Forgive my ignorance on this subject but I'm going to post a project on odesk/fiverrr etc for a project I've been procrastinating on doing for the longest time. I want to have my own jukebox of sorts comprised of all the tunes/albums etc that I remember and like, before they all either get lost, taken down for various reasons etc. Create the platform that's basically a copy of youtube, and I'll send the builder links of songs/etc I want saved. Can't possibly cost too much and I already bought the url which will NOT be findable on the net.

Is that the same thing?

You could find everything you need for this online in terms of music. Sites like torrentz.eu will show you links to sites where you can download everything you want.

If you start your own site with this music, the record companies would come after you at some point if it becomes popular worldwide. Youtube is allowed to do it because they show commercials and give the money from commercials to the record companies. Creating a site like this for friends, they wouldn't notice or care.

You can snag videos off of YouTube and other websites and keep them as videos.
A song video can converted it into an MP3,etc. if you want also very easily.

i use an extension to download YT videos. i almost never watch them streaming.

regarding mp3's from YT: please note that the audio will have gone through several re-encodings and it will sound worse than a proper rip.

if you collect mp3's always check with a tool like spek (free) (http://spek.cc/) if some joker hasn't re-encoded a 128kbps file to 320kps.

this is what a 320kps file should look like (and these days you shouldn't really collect anything with less)
if it's cut off below 20kHz, throw it out.

Torrentz Shuts Down, Largest Torrent Meta-Search Engine Says Farewell

BY ERNESTO ON AUGUST 5, 2016 C: 335
BREAKING
Torrentz.eu, one of the world's largest torrent sites, has announced "farewell" to its millions of users. The meta-search engine, which hosted no torrents of its own but linked to other sites including The Pirate Bay, has decided to cease its operation. The surprise shutdown marks the end of an era.

torrentzFounded in 2003, Torrentz has been a stable factor in the torrent community for over 13 years.

With millions of visitors per day the site grew out to become one of the most visited torrent sites, but today this reign ends, as the popular meta-search engine has announced its shutdown.

A few hours ago and without warning, Torrentz disabled its search functionality. At first sight the main page looks normal but those who try to find links to torrents will notice that they’re no longer there.

Instead, the site is now referring to itself in the past tense, suggesting that after more than a decade the end has arrived.

“Torrentz was a free, fast and powerful meta-search engine combining results from dozens of search engines,” the text reads.

The site’s user are no longer able to login either. Instead, they see the following message: “Torrentz will always love you. Farewell.”

I stopped after pirate bay gave my laptop a virus that made it unusable, and cost me hundreds in lost software and all my work files.
