ARE THEY ALL GIRLS OR SOMETHING HIDEOUS?

Ok, I have a bundle of seeds that came from a plant that was most probably a herm....not pollinated, I figure, because only some of the smaller, lower buds have seeds,,,,that is an assumption...you can throw that answer along, but my real question is

will the seeds of a herm type plant necessarily and only produce herms? I heard a while ago that they were valuable seeds because they are usually female...so ....can you clear that up....

thank you wsh

Hey Widespread - It is my understanding that seeds from a hermaphrodite plant (genetically hermaphroditic) will have an extremely high probability of being hermie as well. The female seeds you may be referring to were made by a chemically induced hermaphrodism (using giberellic acid or STS) on the mother plant. Breeders refer to this practice as "selfing" the plant.

While these seeds tend to be more expensive than standard seeds, they too have a rather high probability of going herm when compared to females from standard seeds.

Hermies tend to be valuable because you can have one plant that produces buds and then can polinate itself. but their buds are usually very low grade stuff. and yes their seeds are like 90% more often to produce other herms.

well actualy i have no idea what the percent might be. but they are way more likely to produce them though.

Sorry JetUsUp, hermies are not valuable for anything. They can seed up a whole flower room with hermie seeds, and ruin sesamilla crops. If it's not a late season bananna kill the hermie.

OH and don't grow seeds that came from hermies.

I have to agree with SmokeyPufmaster. In my opinion hermies are not valuable and are not worth keeping around or growing.
