Are these Roors legit?

Got them from a smoke shop, the bigger ones (I think 250 ml size) were $49.99 each and the small one was $29.99 - all 3 for just under $130. Owner supposed to have gotten a good deal on them. They look and perform well, except 1 bowl has a hole too small to toke thru really, even w/o a screen.

They also have a nice viva la digital whip vape I like.

Here's some pics:

For that price I would say no.. Maybe some American roor company.. I paid 350 for a green roor 8 years ago.. If they are legit u got a steal

Roors for that price....I doubt it very much.

Having said that, expensive glass is a hyped up designer label wankery thing anyway. I'd rather spend my money on something to put in a cheap bong. The one in the centre looks like the foot is slightly crooked, no way would Martin Birzl let that out. AFAIK Roor USA got shut down years ago, because Mr Birzl was unhappy with the quality of things having his company name on them.
Enjoy.

From what you describe "They look and perform well, except 1 bowl has a hole too small to toke thru really, even w/o a screen", it's not a real ROOR. Sounds like a knock off. And doubtful there would be a US (stars and red) semi flag themedROOR. Sounds more like Chinese made.....

You can buy those "roor" water pipes straight from China for only a few dollars. They are not real at all.

Here's a post I made a while back in a similar thread to this one. I hope it helps you next time.
That little squiggle is the artists signature, and there are a fair amount of knock-off's that have fake signatures. There are a few ways to tell a real RooR from a fake one.
1) The label. Real Roor's have the label always straight, and the top's of the letters on the label is always on the right. If you are reading it, you should be reading it top to bottom. If the label is off center, the wrong way, or you can scratch it off at all, it's probably fake. It's also worth mentioning that RooR labels are always matte or satin in finish, they aren't glossy, and they aren't stickers.
2) The Joint. Real RooR's have a special process they use when making their joint's. They double up on the glass thickness before they pull out the joint so it is thicker and stronger. They call this a "Bistable" joint. You will also see that the glass is smooth, with no ripples or bubbles in it. Another thing is that RooR angles their joints in such a way that the end of the diffuser/downstem will go as far into the opposite corner as possible. If you see a RooR and the downstem is somewhere near the center of the base and not all the way to the end, it's definitely fake. This is probably the easiest way to tell a real from a fake, at least for me.
3) The base. Real RooR's have very, very thick feet for the tube style pieces, and almost equally as thick bases on the beakers. If you know Illadelph, RooR's are usually twice as thick as that. They are no less than 3mm, and they are always perfectly smooth with no ripples in the glass.
4) The tube width. RooR only makes tubes in certain thicknesses. These are 3.2, 5, 7, and for crown labels that were produced for only a limited amount of time 9mm. If you're RooR shopping with a micrometer you can test this, although its difficult and most people don't have that equipment.
5) The glass. RooR only use the highest quality borosilicate glass. There will never be bubbles in the glass, it feels very heavy and solid in your hand, and if you compare it to another tube, you can almost see the difference.
All of this speaks to the exceptional quality control that comes out of RooR. In almost every case, if you have the slightest bit of apprehension that the piece you're holding is fake, it probably is. Even many authorized RooR dealers sell a fake here and there because the profit margin is so much higher.
In looking at OP's RooR, I would have to agree that it's probably fake. RooR never put ice pinches that low on their pieces because it compromises the structural integrity at an already somewhat weak point (where it tapers to straight). Also, even from the distance that picture was taken at you can see the ring around where the joint was pulled. This means it is certainly not a Bistable joint because you can see how the glass thins and gets weak. I'd also want to point out that the shape of that beaker bottom isn't consistent with what RooR produce. Their's tend to have a sharper downward slope and the amount of curvature in the base is much less. They never go that far back under the edges of the base because this makes them less stable when standing up and much more prone to knocking over. Other than that I can't really tell much else from the picture, but I know that if I saw this in a shop I wouldn't buy anything from there.
None-the-less, a bong is a bong, and he will still get high from it. Let's just hope he didn't get ripped off too bad.
Source: I have owned many RooR's and I have been involved with their products since 2006. I have owned both RooR.de and RooR.us pieces before the two companies merged in recent years. Say what you want about how much money I've spent, I always know that when I buy a real RooR, I am getting the highest quality control out there.

Thanks very much ICmag members. I'm still confused, the smoke shop is very reputable - they have a very large selection too of bongs & vapes. It's also where I get my med card (doc come in every Saturday or video conference) and they more contacts than anyone else in town regarding medical marijuana.

Also next to my brothers Ehle of similar size - they DEFINITELY look way superior & heavier. Clear as crystal, no bubbles and super thick edges and seams.

If it is Chinese made, I'd have to compliment them on their work! That small hole in 1 bowl still leaves me baffled, it's like 1/8" diameter, if not less - how could you accidentally drill a small hole like that with the proper size bit? The design though is really not functional, my friend can drill out a bigger hole, has real expensive dental equipment, also for gemstones...

Hey, as long as it works and you don't feel bad it is not a real RooR...treat it with care and they'll last a while!! What tipped me off.....the small hole....hmmmmm.

And Google pics of RooR bases....like a chemistry flask bottom vs. the base you have.....

What I hate are those flimsy carb stems (on other glass products).....more than a dozen I've trashed so do not use that type anymore.

Interestingly most of the research chems used in fake weed come from China too. :D

They are growing indoor bud in China now on a pretty large scale...there's a pot revolution of sorts going on over there! They get tents and lights dirt cheap too since everything is made over there. The revolution kinda sucks though. When I visited about a decade ago, nobody knew what pot smelled like, so we just smoked joints and bowls anywhere and people just thought they were funky foreign cigarettes! I doubt I'd be able to get away with that as easily now...

Definite counterfeit. The guy who sold them to you knew it as well.

I have seen them in tobacco shops/convenience stores. I would even buy one if they didn't say roor on them.

What makes a roor worth it's money ?

No-no, I am not saying I find them super expensive or anything, not complaining, just wondering what is it about them that made them so famous ?

Was it the design ? Are they durable ?
Was it because ze germans we're making them ?

Did you know the company was started in 1995 ?
That's a long time ago!

They are well made, and have a very high standard of quality control. you won't get any bubble filled welds that look like a blind 10 year old with a plumber torch did it.
They are also overpriced for what they are, European skilled labour is expensive. You could argue that you are supporting western business against Asia, but frankly that ship sailed a couple of decades ago.

LOL

My friend said that bowl with the small hole hits just fine, it's likely a one hit push bowl. I thought those type bowls weren't used much anymore.

I'll tell you though these bongs do look top notch, I've seen good glass before... If it is Chinese I'm still scratching my head on how well made they are and the price I got them at. Thanks much members for your input. :thank you:

Well learning something new about bowls: "ice pinches are best for bigger tubes, because if you use a disc diffused bowl on a small piece the smoke instantly hits your lungs making it a lot harsher. I like to use a push bowl on my small piece because it creates a drag, and it takes the smoke longer to reach my lungs so I can milk it more and take smoother bigger hit. My pieces are all like 38mm <14inch pieces. "

Makes sense, that smaller hole bowl maybe goes with the smaller 100 ml bong. Pieces were wrapped separately after I bought them and took them home.

Yeah thanks much again people, really like my purchase no matter. I was planning on getting a quality bent stem with diffuser ($200-400 budget) but these were an impulse buy after seeing them and having no real decent glass of my own.
