Are these doing OK?

These are two LR#2 plants one week from popping the top. They are in a micro cab 2' x 2' x 2' . Temps are 30-32 deg lights on and 22-26 lights off (ish) Hot weather at the moment.

They look a little weird to me - they seem to be struggling for something - I may be wrong...Just need some reasurance I guess.

They are on water only - about 250ml every 2-3 days depending on how dry they are, they get dry real quick as I have fans on close. I only water when they are dryed out.About a 45% perlight mix I think...

here they are

Thanks in advance guys

hey AD ,
as i said earlier its this darn heat wave weve been having, should clear up.... rain for the next week :badday:. they look to be in quite big pots, when you say "water when they are dried out", do u mean the whole pot or just the soil around the plant?
Peace

Hey man

Yeah I mean the whole pot - I let it get as light as my control pot then water...

The temps are high aint they.....I may add another fan - would that help or would it just blow more hot air around? I dunno how to reduce the temps...

Greetings Arther Daily.

The first set of leaves is displaying abnormal growth due to cell wall rupture. The temperature is too high, especially for a seedling just developing its root zone.

As you may be aware, there is a significant difference between circulation and ventilation. Be certain that both are more than adequate for the garden.

If you control the temperature, the abnormal growth (and lack of growth) should cease.

Sincerely,
Charles.

Hi Charles,

Well they looked even worse last night, and they look spindley weak. The one in the blue pot is really quiet horrid, the one in the black pot last night had one leaf pointing at 70 degrees!

I noticed something in my room as well - I have four 3" extraction vents, the ONLY extraction in the room (room is 2' x 2' x 2'max) and they are covered with cooker hood carbon 2mm paper stuff. Well, after 2 good grows and several months later - they are clogged up with "crap" completely. I suspect they are around 50% - 65% clogged, which reduces my exctraction by upto 65%!!!! I do not need this carbon filter paper, as it did f-all to help reduce odour and was juts a 'neat touch'.

I cut this out last night, and suddenly my extraction fans (2 x 80mm's) roared louder and I could feel them pulling out more air. I think this will mean I can combat the heat issue.

Today I have checked the plants - and while bluey is still all crap, the 70 degree leaf has pulled back into a regular position. Only time will tell I guess.

I notice that they haven't needed water for three days now - I guess they will dry out today and need a water tonight.

Fingers crossed I dont lose them (that would be 6 out of 10 seeds down).

Cheers :)

Stop over watering, replant them carefully into fresh soil\perlite mix. Fresh air is better then recycled air.

need more help send me a pm....

Cheers Growdoc, I will do that today.

Here is a pic today - 24 hours after opening up the vent holes...

:badday:

PS - I really dont think I am overwatering...They have had only 2 waters of 250ml in two weeks...I let them dry out before another water.

Hey mate,

No, the fucking carbon paper never did do shit - except for screw up possibly 6 seedlings :pointlaug

The temps in the room are MAX 30 today, the room feels all breezy and luke warm at the moment. I germed another two and dropped them in, I noticed that one has popped up today, so lets see how that fairs up.

I think bluey is gonna struggle to recover from this......

rkrone - thanks man, I am feeling that you guys are right about this...

Ohh NG2K - I would start a grow diary, but it will only last two weeks before they all die. Great diary eh? lol

Keep you posted - heres needing a smoke :joint:

Ok - This morning they are even worse again. I moved the away from the light and the temps in the room are a lot less. They are worse for sure. Could I have the fans on too high blatting them? I did have a full running 12v 80mm fan blowing right at them from close range.

I am at a loss guys. Growing is not fucking rocket science, and I have the basics down - and these are a piece of piss autoflowering strain!!

I have lost the plot again with them - maybe I have a bad batch of seeds?

:joint:

Right then,

Today and yesterday they were at a solid 28 degrees during lights on. The fans were and are gently blowing around in the room. The climate is perfect in my opinion.

The two are struggling to recover from whatever it is (heat cooked like most have said I guess)

I have two new seeds that popped the top and one looks nice and green and as expected, the other is yellow and crap. So, if one is fine, the other isn't, I suggest I may have a poor batch of seeds. Is this feasable? I am at a loss for this. I want to order another batch, but don't know if I should?

BTW - Cannot seem to find masterlow in stock anywhere - put of LR2 now :(

Thanks folks.

Once a seed opens it has decided to live... plants should not be whipping in the wind but lightly dancing, point fans at the light bulb not at the plants.

250ml of water is alot for something so small, i use 250ml water per plant during flowering.

GrowDoc

Cheers man,

So how often per 7 days does a fully flowering plant take. If you feed 250ml, do you feed that every two days, or every three, or four??

Cheers :)

i wouldnt have said 250ml was too much at all. but you cant state a volume of water to use at any particular time......its all down to the grow medium you use, soil aeration, pot size, temps, watering frequency, plant size etc etc. but i still would have said 28*C is it a bit high for plants that small.
is it possible to stick some more fans or holes in their mate? you know in the partition between the reflector and the extraction fans. i say this because by the time we hit mid july your gonna have a HUGE problem. thats why some growers (like me) shut down over summer.
dont give up mate....... :petting:

I think putting another vent hole will be hard, cos I will drill through my ballast knowing my luck at the minute. I dropped the fan speed, so I will take that back up to full 12v and add this nice 120mm fan as well :)

thanks for the encouragement mate :) :D

Update -

I think that the diagnosis of HEAT STRESS is absolutley correct. I have managed to keep on top of the heat and they are starting to bloom nice. I will post up some pic's tonight. But, you will like this - I think they are males anyway hahahaha. Bastards :D

Two more popped and are at day 4 or 5, I forget. They look healthy

One thing I had to do because of the heat, was move the plants away from the light, so now they will strech like arseholes.....dammit - anyway thanks all for the help :D
