Howdy gang! It's been about 12 years since I was active on here. I only messed around with a few micro grows back then so I'm still basically a noob. My state recently legalized recreational cannabis and growing so I thought I'd give it a try again. Nothing crazy, just a little something as a hobby. Gonna keep it real simple this time, not gonna screw around with cold cathode lights like we did back then...

Equipment:
SpiderFarmer 2x2x5 Tent Kit with SF1000D light
Soil:
Fox Farm Happy Frog
Nutes:
General Hydroponics Flora Series

Genetics:
Since this is my first grow in a long time and like I said, I'm still basically a newb, I hit up the $2 menu at a vendor I don't know if I can name on here since they don't sponsor IC. I popped a "Headband" and a "Stardawg" both Auto F

When I post future updates I will also update this main post so future readers can just see it all in one place.

7/30 - Started LST - this is kind of a bitch with fabric pots. Next run I will probably incorporate something more rigged into the pot for anchor points.

7/31 - Fed 1/2 gallon each with General Hydroponics Flora Series
Mix Per Gal:
1ml Micro
1ml Gro
.5ml Bloom
Forgot to PH after mixing like a dummy so hopefully no issues there.
Had to water the CBD with some Recharge so gave the Headband and Stardawg a little splash of that too.

8/2 - Preflowers showing on Stardawg

View media item 18712410No negative effects from forgetting to PH the nutes so far. Allegedly Recharge can help with PH balance and I don't think it was too out of wack anyway.
View media item 18712411Headband is very Indica and is much harder to train. Very bushy, tighter spacing, not as flexible etc, but I love the hardiness of the plant and the fat fan leaves.
View media item 18712412Stardawg is much more flexible and spaced out. Way easier to train so far.

Pots are still a bit heavy from Mondays feeding. I imagine I won't need to water again until Monday at the earliest. Another light feeding probably wouldn't hurt but I think they look healthy so I'll just give 1/4 gal of Recharge to each to keep things moving along and will feed next watering after.

Apparently there is a limit of 20 photos in one comment so I will no longer be copying my full updates to this post. I can link to the comments though.

Thanks @MEGA956 . These are just some little like 1 pint jiffy pots to start off in. I have some 1 gallons I'll move them into once they get established.

OK, ok. Haven't grown autos myself but I've heard you're suppose to start them in a big pot since they don't respond well to transplanting. Looks odd but that's how autos are grown. I have some freebie auto fems I got from Oregon Elite, I was thinking on starting them in 3 gal pots from seed and flower them like that.

Yeah I've read that, I think its fine to start small and transplant while still in early veg. I was considering the 1gal to be their final home since I'm not really worried about maximizing my results. However, I may just use the 5gal grow bags that came in my kit and call it a day.

Sounds good, can't wait to see how they turn out.

Welcome back. Nice looking start. I grow my auto's indoors and outdoors in 10 gallon fabric pots. You can see in my journal what happens if you transplant too late. I started in 1/2 gallon pots and went 24 days then transplanted into 10 gallon pots. The roots circled the pots bottom and 4 of the 5 autos in my greenhouse stunted. The 5th auto's roots didn't circle. It finished as usual. This year's harvest was less than 4 ounces for 5 plants. I also posted a photo from last year's auto flower greenhouse grow that I transplanted at 11 days from solo cups to my 10 gallon pots. I harvested over a pound from those 4 plants. They are not as transplant friendly as photo period plants are.

I got the same tent and SF1000 that I use for clones or small plants. :pimp3:

Last time, I used it I had 6 Sour Tangie clones in it.

Week one in the books. Today I moved them up to the 5 gallon fabric pots to avoid any stress on them later. They look ridiculous in those big pots. Still just using PHd water. I will probably start introducing a light feeding once they settle into these pots.

I also added a new friend as well. Purplematic CBD from Royal Queen Seeds.

Open to any suggestions on feeding, lighting, temp, etc.

Thanks for stopping by.

That's a wrap on week 2 for Headband and Stardawg. Purplematic CBD is at 1 week. Transferred the CBD to a 1gal and I'll let it live in there for the duration.

Everyone got a nice drink of Recharge yesterday so they look a tiny bit droopy. Nobody looks to be too hungry though so no nutes yet but I think next watering they might need their first dose.

Will probably start to LST next week when they're a little bigger and I feel more comfortable bending them around.

___________WEEK 4 Complete______________

So anyway, I started blastin...

I found a thrip last Saturday so I got some DE and put that shit on everything like some Frank's Red Hot. I left it for about 2 days and then used a spray bottle to wash it off. Still some residue on the leaves and some leaves don't look 100% but I haven't seen a thrip since so whatever. Now just using DE as a barrier on the soil.

Due to not wanting to get the DE wet I gave a small drink of recharge the day before applying. Later, after spraying the DE off the leaves I fed 1/2 gal each with 2.5ml Micro, 2.5ml Gro, 1ml Bloom / gallon and I didn't forget to PH it this time. They're starting to drink much faster as they are just about dry today. I plan to give them 1 gal each but I'm debating if I should feed nutes or just recharge this week. I don't want to over do the nutes, but flowering is starting to commence and I want to make sure they have what they need. I think I'll do recharge to play it safe. I'd rather deal with underfed than burnt/lockout shit.

View media item 18712599Purplematic CBD Week 3 - starting to preflower

View media item 18712598Headband Week 4 - still beefy, little bit of DE on leaves

View media item 18712597Headband Week 4 - Pistil, starting to go full flower

View media item 18712596Stardawg Week 4 - Underside, forming some knuckles to prepare for some bud weight.

View media item 18712595Stardawg Week 4 - Pistil, preparing for liftoff

View media item 18712594Stardawg Week 4 - Still looks gross from the DE but overall healthy. Crazy to look back at just last week and see they were barely filling in the pot, now the soil is hidden by a bush.

I removed a handful of fan leaves that were blocking major bud sites but overall have just done LST and chilled. I will prob clean things up a bit after the stretch

Shoutout to all my thumbs up friends, I appreciate your support!

Week 5 Complete

2 5 gallons in a 2x2 wasn't my best idea

View media item 18712738Stardawg (left) is really taking off, stretching, building lots of flowers. Headband seems to be slacking. They were showing preflowers almost the same time but headband is lagging behind now with the flower development. Not sure if I stunted it or just the genetics.

Overall they look pretty healthy, we'll see where we're at next week.

I honestly can't remember if I gave them nutes or just recharge last....I'm pretty sure it was nutes. I should keep better track of things. Minor tip burn on some leaves so I think I'm in the sweet spot on nutes.

Ordered a dehumidifier as it is always 70%rh minimum which means my VPD is not ideal and I'll be running the risk of budrot down the road.

Week 6 done. Not great, not terrible.

Lets start with Headband. Overall looking healthy just really taking her sweet ass time to produce.

Below you can see Headband (left) compared to Stardawgshit (right)
View media item 18712917

I was trying to determine what deficiency I was seeing and she was checking boxes on lots of different ones. I watered just enough to get enough runoff to PH. It went in at 6.4 and came out at 6.5. So I don't think it's salt buildup/lockout. I decided that it must just be underfed and lacking many of the micronutes which is leading to various deficiency signs. I don't remember where I pulled my original feeding schedule from but it seems to be quite low compared to other GH Flora soil feeds.

Headband seems fine with the previous feeding plan but I guess since Stardawg just took off flowering so much faster the nutes just weren't enough.

Yesterday I mixed up 1 gal of nutes at 5ml Micro, 5ml Gro, 9ml Bloom and fed Stardawg about a 1/2 gal. I don't think the damaged leaves will recover but I'll keep an eye on new growth and see how we're lookin. I also raised the light up a good bit, just in case some damage was heat/light stress.

I picked up some Cal Mag in my panic to diagnose the issue but I haven't used it yet as I think the Cal Mag def symptoms were from a lack of everything overall. If I don't see improvement I'll give that a try.

We'll see what happens over the weekend and into next week.

Thinking about going organic next round. :)

Week 7 Done

The gang is lookin pretty good. Did a decent defoliation Wednesday and things are already filling back in. I switched from 24/0 to 18/6 as Headband was just bullshitting around and not really flowering. Seems to have helped get things going.

View media item 18713100

Purplematic CBD was repotted into a 3gal fabric pot with some more Happy Frog and Dr Earth Flower Girl and she seems to be happy about it. Just hitting with Recharge from here on out as a small test with dry organic feed.

And of course Stardawg is doin her damn thing. Looking almost completely fine compared to last week. I think it was a combo of lack of food and being too close to the light that just made her look like shit.

This is day 49 from sprout so we're rounding the corner toward the finish line for these autos. Around another month and we should be lookin to chop Stardawg and Purplematic. Headband I feel is gonna take a bit longer.

See ya next week!
