Apartment flooding!!!HELP

I just got home from getting food, walked in the door to a flooded front room. Im on the basement floor. Upstairs neighbor is rarely home, and isnt there now..(this just happened)..Water is dripping from multiple places in the room next to my grow room..

I dont want to call the matenance man for obvious reasons..Within the last 20 min that ive been home the dripping has almost come to a stop. I worried what will happen if it starts when im away for three days at a time tending the guerilla grow..

I have a safe house very close, but tear down would be a NIGHTMARE!!

What would you do?

Im freakin out, I cant have my place get flooded while im gone..

Yes, its an old building..There are a series of pipes running along the roof inside my appartment, which leads me to believe that there arent any pipes in the neighbors floor:confused:

It seems to have stopped.

When I walked inside, there was an inch of water surrounding my 1000w ballasts..

Im gonna be leaving town alot soon to prep my guerilla grow.

I cant afford to come home to a burnt down building, or 1 foot of water in my place,,

Im most worried about my motherplants that are maturing in the back room.
This could ruin my current indoor grow(just went to 12/12), and my 2007 outdoor grow..This situation needs to be massaged in the right way, ya know..ALot stands on what happens here..

Wadda ya think JJ, my matenance guys seem sketchy..

I would think they are going to have to come in and clean the water or there will be a lot of mold. It might also be something where insurance agents may get involved. If you think it is bad enough for any of this you had better move it. What a pain in the ass....
Hmmmmm, well its prolly not bad enough for mold or insurance agents, as i live in the desert, with very low humidity, floor is drying up quite quick..

Im most worried about this happening while im gone for 3days up in the hills digging holes..

I need to know that this wont happen again, and thats quite hard, cause I dont know why it happened in the first place..Ive lived here with the same neighbor for 5months problem free, then this.

I was shitting my pants when I first discovered the leak......Now im just worried about the long term.. Floods or electrical fires while im gone..

Im supposed to leave for 3-4 days on wednesday..

go make sure your neighbour isnt dead or fallen over..

then go and turn her mains tap off, leaving a note on her door explaining why you had to do it..

Mould will be an issue stop the flow then dry well, if water is comming through the wall or roof your going to need than maitanance dude.

recently a poped main flooded my yard while i was away with the lowest lying lot in the street my yard was farked but the council sand bagged and helped to remove the mud later in the week. Fully covered being 65 year old pipe failure was so bad the moisture went up through the bricks and into a cavity making the inside plaster stain and chip away months later..

Maintenance smaintenance find the leaks and get a product call drylok,it'll seal your hassles fer sure.I had a leak around the faucet on my 50 gal. rainbarrel and sealed it with drylok, under 50 gal. of water pressure it was full!

if your apartment is rented and the occupant above has had a flood your apartment will definitely be inspected for safety reasons ,

if you own it u can obviously refuse entry from the occupier aboves insurance assessors but that might spark suspicion ,

its a nasty situation ,if it was me I'd get everything out just to be on the safe side ,mother plants can be replaced and regrown ,freedom is paramount

the worse scenario if u keep them is u coming home to find it burnt down because of water on your ballasts and youve lost everything

Good advice hazy,I think I'm too used to having my own place thank mom and dad,and god.It would be crazy trying to do this worried about landlords and maintenance workers,I'd definately keep my numbers waaay down...I guess you cant use drylok if it isnt your place, unless you OK it with the landlord beforehand?hazy is right though,if there is property damage there is going to be assessments and such.

Lift the ballasts off the floor. My neighbor used that dry-loc stuff to plug a leak in his crown vic's gas tank. Just remember that if you don't tell maintenance about it, when you move they will put any damages against your secuirity deposit (if you are planning on losing it anyway then forget I said anything).

Thank you all for your informed responses..

I called the matenance guys, one has already came(11;00 last night). The leak is in a part of the appartment that is totaly seprate from the growroom. I just put a lock on the door, and if they ask to enter, " My roommate isnt home yet, He has the key". Basicly stall em for a night, so I can tear down..But I am hoping that wont happen. There is no smell, and no reason to enter the back, sooo Im just gonna bite the bullet, and have them fix it.

The dude ripped some large holes in the celing, and there was no sign of dripping, or a leak from any of the pipes:confused:..Me an the guy were trippin..He entered the upstairs appartment to find everything in order, and no leaks either:confused:...

Wish me luck guys, The Matenance guys will be here in a coupple of hours..

Haha happened to me once... I know the feeling of leaving your place perfectly fine, and coming back to a couple inches of water in your place :yoinks: and water pouring through your light fixtures.. In my case the upstairs neigbors hose fell off the back of the washing machine while they were out, and all water was just pouring out into their utility room which dripped through the ceiling, and flooded my place... I was grateful it wasn't sewage, but it still sucked.

Anyway man glad it's getting care of now. it was to much of a risk to leave unnatended IMO.. i mean if the pipe came off their toilet or something that could have been a nasty scene when you came home from your 3 day trip. I own my home now, but just recently I had to call a plumber, and man I sweat bullets the whole fricken time they were there. It just figures things go wrong at the worst possible times LOL... Make sure the smell is under control, and keep that room locked... If it looks to them that it flooded into that room they may want to go in there to inspect. In that case tell them your roomate is away for the night, and he keeps it locked (make sure it's locked with solid locks, nothing they can jimmy or pick open). If that happends well then you know what u gotta do...
