is there anyway to cut a pyrex bake around tube? they come 14 inches i beleive? and i need mine 12 inches, any special blade i can buy for a hacksaw? or a bit for a dremel? or screw driver??? anything!? any help appreciated
A glass shop is your best bet to get it cut without going through a few while honing your glass cutting kung fu. I can recall a thread on OG about someone cutting the base off of a large vase to be used a cooltube. If I remember rightly they worked with glass and exploded one their first try at it. For something that large around you can't just score and snap the way you would for a peice of sheet glass or small diameter rod or tube.
thanks much,i remember once i found a tube cutter on the net that you like snap on and drag it around the tube and it scores it, and you just break it off with a hammer, tryin to find that again haha im gunna look through the classified for a glass shop
Here is a like to a tube cutter but this one looks like it will only take small 1 to 2 inch tubing, they don't actually say what size it can handle though.
this needs to be cut with a wet diamond wheel by a pro! I am a glazier by trade.trust me take it to a glass shop.I'm not sure if they will cut pyrex because it becomes unstable when cut and you run the risk of destroying the tube. 50/50 chance.
Don't bother with cutting it, seriously. Glass cutting is an art when its just a piece of regular glass, let alone a tube like that. You will destroy it if you try. What's wrong with an extra couple of inches? it won't hurt anything.
