Anyone with an oakton ph2 please respond

do your meters power on with the replaceable probe disconnected?

i ask because i dropped my meter on the probe end and was going to replace it (false readings afterward) but it wont power up now with or without the head attached, tried new batteries. im hoping the probe is just totally shot and the unit doesnt turn on without it.

but i bet im f'd. thanks in advance for any responses.

I have broken 2 of those damn things in the last 6 months. It seems like they could protect that ball a little better.

Word. it was a short drop but went probe down.

so without a working probe attacthed the unit does not power on? cool i just need a new probe then i hope. thing is i won the meter on ebay, brand new for like $37 (around a holiday, got lucky). new probe will run me $45, not bad.

oaktons do make a great meter, Thanks pico and boxy for the replies.

oops, I misread your post I thought you where asking if it stays off when I take off the probe, but now I see what your saying and no when the probe is off the unit will still come on it will just have a "r" next to the reading.

ahh figures. havent been on for a few days, thanks boxy for clarifying. its cool just have to kick out a little extra $$.
