Anyone used a water ram? Pumping water up hill Guerilla style...

Hey all..

I need to pull water from a creek to supply a few different outdoor locations using no electricity. Did some research and stumbled upon water rams, and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them?

I need to pump water uphill to spots on either side of the river. I'm guessing the lift height would be about 50ish feet if i went straight up the hill, but I plan on moving the pump upstream a ways to lessen the total vertical lift needed.

I can't use an engine powered pump for obvious reasons, and this is the only way I have found to pump uphill without using electricity, etc.

Anyone have any input or suggestions for other methods?

get a pump head that is belt driven or sprocket driven.....
hook up a small paddle wheel to turn the pump shaft......
maybe?
I moonlight at 45 bux an hour as a non ticketed "mechanical engineer" (that's my job title anyways LOL)
might work if you can find the right pump head and get to work mcgyverin it. Use the creek to spin the shaft that drives the pump to pump the water up hill.

Thanks for the responses..

VonBudi - Wicked link for the Gas Powered pump thread. I decided to say to hell with it and grab one of those Honda WX-10's. $400 but so small and lite.

Your absolutely right about the on/off time of the pump vs the water ram.
