Anyone use window AC in grow tent? Sealed room.

Looking for alternatives to mini splits, anyone use a window ac in tents? 8'x8'x8' tents.

If so, how well it work for you? Is it efficient still with all the hot air blowing out the back?

I punched a hole in the wall in the room that backs up to the garage that the tent is in. keeping the room at 67*F-69*F keeps my 6x6x7 tent at 78*F +|- 2*F. the central AC would have gone crazy if it was exhausting into the house.

You need to vent the hot air. What I did was walled off the closet and mounted the ac in the wall. Inside the closet are 2 8" holes going to the attic. One is ducted to the back of the ac and the other is ducted to an 8" fan in the attic.

It is possible, as I am running a 1.5 kw window rattler in a 4 x 4 cabinet. It is a pain in the arse but it is my only option at the moment. The heat in the room my cabinet is in is on the high side but the girls float around the 26 degree mark.

You would be better of with a mini split an inverter run compressor. That should get you nice even cooling and constant RH.

One member, hush, runs a tent in a room with an a/c unit in the window of that room. He uses an inline fan to move heat out of the tent, then the window unit moves heat outside the dwelling. His results are excellent.

Of course ya know mini split is best but obviously not a option since u are asking this ?
I have a friend that uses a window ac in a 10x10 tent.... And it took some playing around with... This is how we came up with the best setup... I'm gonna give ya the quick version... Ur gonna have to cut ya tent to fit the ac... Frame out ac with 2x4s ... U need space in the room or need to vent the ac like Groer implied.... Also u have to get the hot air out ... How many lights u puttin in there big difference between 4 600s and 4 1ks as far as how u set ur shit...

When I used tents I had a floor standing unit that had 3 functions; AC/dehuey/space heater.... You can get them for $300-400 which is a bit more than a window banger but still significantly lower than mini splits. The benefits here are that the floor standing units have ducting so you can exhaust the hot air out of a normal vent hole in the tent, the 3 functions are also awesome.
