Anyone use side lighting with flourescents?

I have a t8 4 bulb 32 watt per bulb fixture sitting here. I have a massive plant that the 600 watt isn't really penetrating into too deeply. I'm thinking of hooking up the flourescent vertically for additional lighting.

Are any guys doing this with good results? What bulbs should I use. I currently have 6500's in there.

I've seen sidelighting provived by vertically hung fluro tubes, but the show was on OG, so I can't link it.

Seems they had those tubes hanging almost IN the plant, and the grower did mention that he hadn't had a problem with the plant in contact with the tube.

Managing a rack of tubes though, I'd have to think on that one. Seems it'd be tough to get even coverage.

the setup is currently an overgrown scrog. The stuff goes about a foot over the wire net. It's 2/3 ft and is quite a sight. I don't think that it will make a night and day difference, but since it's only taking about 128 watts worth the lights, why not... You really can visably notice where the light isn'tgetting because it's so bushy.

I'd say find a way to throw em under the screen...
That way atleast it's getting some light at the bottom of the plant....

vertical lighting will help your smaller buds just get the bulbs as close as you can to the plant and set em there, no fiddling needed. Those bulbs will be fine, although if you want a more suitable bulb buy the bath and kitchen bulbs OR warm white bulbs. those are high in the red spectrum. but really those will do fine. Lots of people use side lighting like this throughout the growing proccess i myself have 4-18 watt fluoros running along each corner of my veg box.(so one in each corner) just keep em real close to the plant no further than 5 inches or its a waste not enough of that light will get to the plant to make a noticable difference. id put em maybe 2-3 inches away.

stay stafe. stay smart.

thanks trev. I'll probably pick up some warm whites at hd today since they're only %6.99 for a pack. I'll do 50/50 mix of them.
