I am after seeing that female kick boxing show on Oxygen last night.
I forgot the name, I'll check it out next week. It's sorta like Spike TV's Ulitimate fighter for hot chicks!.

I'll find out the name and post it in a few.

Nope never trained in Muay Thai but i had the privilege to fight several practioners in my area, boy was it an expierince let me tell you as a TKD black belt theres olny one thing that compares to a Muay Thai knee and that a back side kick, needless to say my first fight with dreaded muay thai ended in my defeat lol. But hey you win some you lose some i came out a better fighter(adapted a modified muay thai round kick to my arsenal very simmilar to the kyokushin style) and can know dish out some very hard blows imo. One thing i learned from my fighting against Muay Thai people is they open themselves to push kicks alot which is bad if you fight a person who can use back side kicks. But one thing for sure if i never fought my friend i wouldnt be as good as fighter as i am today(still not that good lol)

id love to learn how to fight muay thai style...tony jaa is my inspiration

Studied many styles really. Even went the pro circuit for a several years, always kept coming back to MMA though. Met some great people along the way. These days I still keep up with it but I mainly coach my boys. I have an open invite to step back into tourneys any time though. Not a tremendous amount of money in it really, but enough to keep an interest in.

Anyway, Muay Thai is a great form as are many styles. Great for cardio and overall body balance/workout. I'd recommend it.

I'd hate to be in a street fight now (and it's not just because I'm an old bastard)....I'd be real concerned the about to be smacked in mouth wanker is HIV positive or has Hepatitis.

every street fight I've had has turned red and wet.....usually from a fist into their mouth that cuts the gums on teeth or from cuts around the eyes ...it's easy to cut your knuckles on some scum bag's broken teeth

and the same goes for shaving pubic hair......if you use a razor on yourself and your partner, then do the wild thing ..there's a good chance that you are swapping blood with that partner....if you give yourself a Brasilian then wait a few days to allow the minute cuts to heal.

a Muay Thai fighter you might see on farang TV who is damn good is Buakaw - he fights in K1 and generally kicks the crap out of everyone

saw an excellent Thai fighter in Thailand a while back - Ram Siri I think it was... very, very fast, skilled and powerful

if you want to see really hardcore fights you need to check out Lethwei the Burmese martial art... similar to other SE Asian fight methods like Muay Thai, but these guys do not mess about... makes modern Muay Thai seem very tame - includes use of head, plus no gloves, lots of blood

top notch Lethwei fight

Burmese Lethwei vs. Japanese - brutal and frighening finish

Burmese veteran breaks Muay Thai bones with head fun - must see

October 6th this Saturday 12pm in your nearest city come out and demonstrate for the people of Burma

i like watching Muay Thai, Kickboxing etc - much more than regular boxing, but what I LOVE watching is Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) !!! UFC, Pride (now owned by UFC), King Of The Cage etc
Unlike boxing, this is proper fighting where so much more than just punches become involved. I think a lot of us blokes have been waiting a long time for a sport like this

PhenoMenal my mullet loving friend, nice do

but yeh feck UFC man, that's a load of shite - check out the Lethwei links above, that's proper fighting, seriously

btw IMHO most decent professional boxers would pound the crapn out of most guys in UFC etc. ... some of the K1 guys are excellent e.g. Buakaw who I mentioned above... but I watched UFC recently and they were a bunch of jokers

God saved the mullet etc.

I grew up practicing several different martial arts. I quickly learned they are a sport/art-form. Although the various techniques provided a good foundation for me, a black belt won't do shit to an experienced street fighter. I pride myself on being 100% street. I fought a taekwondo black belt a couple years ago at a pool hall, and I ****ed him up bad. Street fighting is very different than various martial art styles. There is one academy around here that teaches straight up street fighting. If you are in it for sport, that's great, but if you are looking to kick-ass in the streets and impress your friends/girlfriend when someone mouths off in a club, learn to street fight ;)

those two are just kids fella - yeh, it's a knee to the head, but that's just a warm-up fight or something even less important than - they're two a penny in Thailand

like I say, check out the Lethwei links if you want something seriously exciting - there's a knee to the head in the Japanese fight which is just plain brutal
