Anyone have experience rolling using cannabis leaf?

I was messing around and rolled a couple just for fun and they turned out pretty good although quite time consuming and difficult just to smoke a joint so it could definitely be better. I picked a leaf cut it up into usable pieces then let it sweat in a plastic bag until it was pretty limp then rolled one with one of the biggest leaves just like normal. I licked it and it stick then ended up using a piece of tin foil to keep it in its shape and put it in my dehydrator on the "herbs" setting, 90degrees. couple hours later it was not completely dry but it burnt and tasted just fine. I have researched a little about curing tobacco leaves until brown, removing the chlorophyl before being used for smoking. Although i like the green leaf wrapper, I now have a few big leaves hanging and curing like you would do with tobacco leaves and in a 1-2weeks they should be brown and might need to be rehydrated a slight bit before making a perfect rolling paper. Maybe.

I wonder how it would be if you slow cured the leaf and rolled with it at proper moisture content. Cool stuff.

I want to try that green joint. :) I've never had anything like that.

I haven't used them for rolling papers, but I've saved some leaves over the years. The leaves will shrivel into an unmanageable shape if you hang them out to dry. If you want to keep them flat, press them between two books through the drying process. They can be slightly rehydrated later so they don't crumble when you roll them.

It can take years for the chlorophyll to go away completely. This one's from a harvest last year:

this is awesome! I have dreamed of this for years! I want to try it so bad!

I am going to start reading up on curing tobacco leaves and such,

any ideas of what to do if you don't have a dehydrator?

Used to smoke splifs rolled in banana leaves while I was in the islands. Never thought of rolling them in herb leaves.

Without having a dehydrator you could just leave it out a couple days and let it air dry there is not too much water in the leaf and the dry buds will suck some up. The leaf will shrink and change shape when it dries out thats why i used a pice of foil to keep its shape, then the second time used a king size paper help keep its shape. Im guessing the ideal way would be to cure some leaves like you would with tobacco then rehydrate them a little bit so they wont break and crack. I am starting my first trial of this right now with a few leaves in a bundle drying somewhere out of sunlight with air movement, I will let you guys know how it goes

maybe there's a better way? Make your own joint papers out of leaves.

here's an idea that came to mind, soak a couple of ounces of leaves in water for several days changing the water several times, to help remove some of the water soluble stuff so the rolling papers you end up will smoke smoother, then make paper. Use an electric blender to mix the leaves and water, spread the mixture out thinly on a mesh to drain then roll it out to form sheets then dry (I haven't made paper since kindergarten, so you might want to check out Youtube for instruction videos) Making thick, rough paper is easy enough, but I think the hardest part would be getting the paper to be thin enough and suitable for rolling, that would take the right method, timing and rolling equipment, but I'm sure it good be done successfully at home with a bit of practice.

Jeez guys, you can rolling papers made from cannabis, surely that would be much easier than these extreme approaches, wouldn't it?

Nope Gurt, a cannabis paper just wont do. When I went to the Bahamas in 08' I found out they smoke all their herb in a backwood leaf, unroll the leaf off the outside use that. I think using a natural leaf with it's veins and all is super cool & I find rolling them only slightly more difficult than a regular paper. When my bundle of leaves is done I will get to do a little more experimenting
