The history dates tell us that this variety was used by Simon Bolivar in his trips
around amazonas, in which he interchanges spices and medicinal plants with natives during his conquests.

holy shit redrider :biglaugh: i would love to see where these guys from levante got their info on simon bolivar trading santa marta gold :D if that can be verified in some real venezuelan historical record, chavez should legalize cannabis once and for all, provided that my theory that he is playing for both teams is wrong of course.

one love!

HHF Mj for personal use (up to 20g) is LEGAL in Colombia, you could move here and still be neighbors with Paz. BTW the weather is beautiful this time of year here.
Peace

Well in Colombia it is legal to posses 20g of mj on the books, however the jails are full of Americans and other travelers that come here and want to send something back or some other "narco traffic". Drugs for personal use are legal in Colombia, however they are NOT socially accept able meaning you must keep a very low profile here. But the police aren't really looking for it so it works well for me here as I only grow 20 or 30 plants in my private garden.

man...

the story of bolivar, come on, that's just not credible... it obviously wasn't santa marta gold he was trading, and i doubt he traded drug cannabis at all. and regardless i don't think chavez will be legalizing any time soon. fidel is his idol--have you ever seen cuban drug laws? they make the americans blush.

interesting paz that you think hugo's "playing for both teams". i never considered it. it's true that adversarial politics play well in the xenophobic US... the american military industrial complex benefits from teh existence of all the bogeymen. but i have a hard time believing chavez is a CIA plant on deep cover or anything like that. why would the US be throwing so much money and resources into getting rid of him?

BH, could you take a photo of the packaging of your pakistani seeds? will you be growing them out soon?

edit: has anyone noticed the world of seeds webpage is history and not even google has more than a cache of the entrance page? i wanted to look at the seed catalogue pdf... oh well

The PDF is still there - I'm reading it now. The seeds themselves look very interesting indeed, if they are legit...

The catalog on the site is starting to make me think that they really do measure the thc levels. Darn colorful .pdf files, they confuse me everytime!

I agree red, that sounds a bogus figure for sure. The Bolivar story sounds fishy too.

I can't believe they claim their Colombian is 19%, that can't be right.

19% of ThC compared with other cannabinoids, "only" 7.8 compared with all material.

Do you mean there should be less thc compared with CBD as mentionned in Clarke's MJB?

I grew the Santa Marta gold from Brazilian seed company, it was very well suiting the description of R. Clarcke, with a very potent high, but first quite anxious and paranoid then sedative. It grows quite indica first but then finish more sativa. I find the strain description of world wide seeds very close to the SMG from BSC :chin:

Here are some pics, grown under fluoros:

Hello growingfury I am sure there are many "Golds" from the Guajira and Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta zones so the gold you have is more then likely one of them since thousands of tons of it was exported for over a decade. I thought 19% was the thc content but 7% sounds more realistic and we all know it's not quantity its quality that matters. Their description of their "Colombian Gold" is not even close with the history part. Here's my Colombian grown Santa Marta Gold (I obtained the seeds in Santa Marta Colombia) but I am sure there's many others from the same region.

Peace from Colombia :joint:

Hehehe yes I suppose it is difficult to know what is a real colombian after all the years of smuggling and many strains imported to production purpose. I discussed with members at OG and I liked the hypothesis that the BSC Santa Marta would be an indian or afghan indica cultivar imported to Colombia and then which would adapt there. The odour and the taste of this BSC Colombian SMG is very strong and rich, a mix between cedar, pepper, mint...I had the same kind of odour with the Nepalese indica I sampled recently.

Your pics is far more sativa than the BSC Santa Marta, but the bud size is very good for an equatorial sativa, nice grow !

Hopefully, I'll grow the BSC Santa Marta next year, I miss its odour and taste !

Good vibes :)

hahaha, paz, ask them please which other strains el libertador was growing. i think he is the original breeder of criollo #1 and perhaps viceroy's vice and some other famous 1700s lines.
