Hey manwithnoname,

ive been growing the star for some years now. I would post some pics but im having trouble with that. Anyway, im gonna tell you my thoughts on the star phenos.

Many growers and companies, (Delta 9, Wos, WL) are attracted to the sativa leaning pheno's of SS, and I believe they may also sometimes call this pheno the ogre pheno

These pheno's are excellent plants with an incredibly intense and uplifting high, but they are not cup winning pheno's and they are not the pheno that has made sensi star the 4 time cup winner and paradise one of the finest seed co in the world.

That pheno would be the indica leaning ass kicker that may just be a sativa lovers worst friggin nightmare. 10 minutes with waves of emotion/ chills and then WHAMO!!! ... get your ass on that couch and dont get up until your told to do so!!! The only uplift here apears after one wakes up and needs a drink. The cup winning star pheno adds a whole new dimension to the term "couchlock". Taste is that of sucking on a corroded, dirty penny with lemmony burnt rubber undertones, but conversations about taste or anything else are shortlived with this pheno.

The sativa pheno's are potent no doubt, but nothing even comparable to the 90% indica hybrid cup winner.

Well fot the PPP i would look out for the sativa pheno with the dark indica leaves.

I had 20+ plants this year and this one grew the fastes of all!!

Yield is also fantastic , lots of side branching , finishes in 9.5 weeks.

Here a few greenhouse grown buds

I agree to much of this. I've been growing the Sensi Star on and off for a couple of years now, and I have similar experiences.

You have basically two phenos, a fat, greasy Indica pheno, and a somewhat more hybrid pheno. I would at the most call it Sativa influenced, because it's not Sativa, just less Indica than the almost 100% Indica phenos. The select Indica phenos are good yeilders, but the high to me was just punchy, stony, and basically sends you straight to bed. Some people like that, but it's not what I'm looking for.

I ditched all the Indica phenos.

The hybrid pheno has a more cerebral, euphoric high and still quite a bit of Indica stone in it. In my garden it yielded less than the best Indica phenos, but is still more of a keeper IMO. Apparently, the OGRE is a hybrid pheno with a great yield, so that's what makes that cut special.

Sensi Star is a cross between Big Sur Holy Weed X Afghani (this has not been confirmed by Paradise Seeds, they keep the parentage a secret), so you could say that the Indica pheno is an expression of Afghai Indica with some BSHW in it, while the hybrid pheno is an BSHW expression with a large chunk of Afghani in it.

The Big Sur Holy Weed is a legendary elite plant from the 70's, a Humboldt County clone only grown from or developed from the Mexican Zacatecas Purple, so it's basically Sativa genetics.

THSeeds the SAGE is also a cross between Afghani and Big Sur Holy Weed, and personally I prefer the SAGE over both the Sensi Star Indica and BSHL phenos, but that's just me. All Sensi Star phenos are leafy as hell and a bitch to trim.

hey guys, thanks for the input. i'm more of a uplifting high type of person myself, but i have friends that love the indica. i think i might keep one of both types on the sensi star if i can get em. might even keep a male around as i would like to try my hand at breeding.

nice looking buds thc. i think i will want the girl you have, sounds like the one for me :joint:

The sensi star pheno i've had for the past 5-6 years is a hybrid pheno with great yield, leafy as fuck but in a good way as the leafs are literally covered in trichomes and i love the hash she makes. She's slightly thinner leafed then alot of the more thicker indica leafed phenotypes but that's the only sativaish trait i've seen apart from the sativaish quality of the high. She is a real slow vegging plant with great lack in vigour and needs to be vegged to a few inches lower then you want her to be at harvest time, great sog plant and ideal for micro-grows.
She's got a dank burnt rubber lemon flavoured condoms with a slight Metallic edge to it but the lemon flavour dissipates slightly after a good cure leaving a aroma and taste of the finest afghani black charas.Alot of growers class sensi star as a unstable hybrid but i've found she quite truebreeding for most of her traits apart and really add's a kick to anything she's outcrossed to plus outcrossing puts the vigour back as i've found in all my sensi star hybrids i've produced in the past .Defiantly 1 of my favourite indica's so far.
