Anyone ever grow Back to the Congo from Richard William’s Seed Company?

I have a pack of these, and can’t find much info on them. I bought them hoping they would be pretty much just like the earlier version called “Deep Congo” but the one good thread on here about that strain fizzled out right after this newer iteration, called “Back to the Congo” was released. The couple people on that thread who did comment on their grows of Back to the Congo seemed to think that it doesn’t match the quality of it’s predecessor, the Deep Congo. Anyway, I am considering growing some of them outdoor this year, and would really like to get a couple testimonials about it before dedicating my space and time to them.

Thanks!

The most sensitive to mold that I have had, the tips began to rot in the middle of flowering and I had to remove all

Wow. Ok. I read through the entire thread about the Deep Congo, and didn’t see a single mention of mold being an issue with it. They were “bred” outdoors in Canada, so I didn’t think they would be prone to mold... bummer.

I have seen photos of the old version and this one was much more deep chunck
Plants of medium height and very hard buds but very very sensitive to mold, I think the old version was more congo

Than you for you responses! I very much appreciate it! Did you lose all of it to mold, or just some? If you didn’t lose it all, can you tell me a bit about the quality of what you did harvest? Did it have that incense quality? That’s what I’m looking for...

I grew pack of it, and didn't got any deep chunk pheno. I was looking forward to plants like deep congo F1, but it was much more congo. I grew deep chunk, so I know how it looks, and bttc was very congo dominant, no colors, strictly green taller plants. one of them had great roller coaster high like good african. electric! but it also tasted awfully to me like most africans. the resistance was great in greenhouse, no mold. cheers.

Alrighty then. Did it lack strong flavor, or do you just not like the type of flavor that it has? Does the smoke smell pungent like incense, or does it just smell smokey?
Thanks so much for your help!

no, it doesn't lack flavor. smells/flavor was nice, but taste was not my cup of tea. otherwise I would keep it. in fact I regret I didn't keep it, as the effect was top, very psychoactive and coming in waves, very good. no incense for me, but that is subjective. white buffalo seeds have creek congo x original haze cross, that's where I would look for incense congo.

Does it have the musky flavor, and does the smoke leave that incense smell in the air, like the Deep Congo did?

red congo is acapulco gold x afghani x congolese landrace and has those flavours. i would check out the white buffalo rc congo x ohaze, ace's panama x congo, kiwi seeds' dampkring classics congo haze, or congolese gold/congolese red/burning spear from snowhigh

I grew 5 seeds. Only 3 seeds germed and one of them was male so I ended up with two females. Each was very difeerent like not related at all so I agree theres lot of different phenotypes in this variety.

One that I did not liked was in the fact very nice plant structure, rich plant with many branches, dark green leaves, nice yield, but ohhh man....when dried and jared.....I opened jar and smelled something I never smelled from weed....it was just awful smell of slightly rotten meat or something like that ...I cant better describe.....and when I rolled up an joint and tested it....almost nothing happened....very very weak feeling of something that reminds me to be high....probably CBD pheno ? I dont know....I still have it in jars...never touched it again...

Second plant was very tall and slim type of structure, I did toped it twice so it had only 4 main branches, very light green colour, low yield, and semiauto flowering traits, she did not liked smaller container, but after transplant to larger it stopped flowering ans veged little bit more. On the other hand smoke was top. Strong active high, not that sedative as OG but maybe even stronger than OG. It was completly covered in resin and smelled like some kind of flowers, roses or something like that...very very nice....I emptied jars very quickly....yield was low and quality high so soon I didnt had single bud left....I gues this was more on Congo side due to structure, colour and type of high....

I think BTTC is big surprise ...you never know what you will end up with :)
