anyone else here purposely compress their weed?

Just recently started doing this...It was brought about mainly by people that I share my crops with saying that the stuff I smoke with them 'looks funny" and isn't "as pretty" as the commercial stuff they buy (which is of course compressed due to being imported from other parts of the country).

I hate to do it, and only do it on that part of my stash I break out to share with people, but its funny to see that since I started doing this people think I have started getting my weed from someone else, and just for shits and grins I took a compressed bud and an uncompressed bud and offered them to people that came over for a smoke. Most people thought the compressed bud was way better in terms of appearance and smoke.

Cuzz I'm a lazy fuck and only produce seeded auto bud, I go about it like this:

On the spot, I remove the yellowing seeded buds off their stalks by pulling them through my firmly sqeezing fingers while aiming em at the trash bag.
It's a 'zag zag' operation and can do several hundereds in a relative short time.
Then dry it up untill brittle and sieve out the seeds.
Next, I put all the remainder bud material in the blender and jarr up the dust for as much as there fits under light pressure.

Never had to grind my weed anylonger right before packing a bowl . :D

Do I loose some? prolly yes.

Do I care? fuck no. It's only weed and when putting it on the bread with some butter it's kinda all the fucking same as there is a plenty of where that came from. :D

Jars like this still go for between 10 & 20 euro/gram where I live. ;)

Fuck nitpickers, producer is king, lol

bricked weed or even tightly packed bud does have commercial appeal to the "regs" crowd. seeded bud lightly compressed can pay better than sensi (due to the seed weight) even though is sold at discount 'cause the seed weight offsets the price break.

lightly packed seeded bud sold at discount sells very quickly and if you have weight it's a great way to move the product without anyone being hip that it is actually homegrown and making your name being "much discussed".

good security benefits, turns quick and a real money maker where i'm at. if you are on the west coast i don't think this strategy would work as well as it does over here on the east coast.

Talk with those and try to explain that pressed weed it's not better in nothing than un-pressed weed.

If they still think the same.....please sell pressed weed at higher price (if you're in the business).

Stupid people needs that! and hey.....you're offering an extra service pressing the weed  it's somehow fair that people pay for it

Crazy world.....

different strokes for different folks as it seems...

and yeah, charge more for the bricked up version... since the pneumatic press and all the high tech involved, sure adds up to the manufacturing price of ze bricks :)

if nugs are on the fluffy side, ill put then in a bag and give a gentle squeeze. shuffle and repeat. it gives a look of more dense buds.

All the most amazing weed I have ever smoked looked the opposite to regular dense commercial grown. The Kali Mist pheno I'm growing is mind blowing, but the buds are wispy, moderate weight and spiral up the stems instead of chunking together. Some of my friends would say it looks like schwag...I say its beautiful!

What people think looks like good weed seems to be very much location dependent...

Yeah, if it looks a bit airy then put it in a bag and squeeze it, I don't mean brick it, just so it looks more of a mass and not airy.
Or when drying roll the buds between the hands.
The problem with some people today is they are used to buying bud of some homeboy who has had it down the front of his pants all day, and it gets squashed into a green mass, rather than buds, so they think that is what pot looks like.

Too true... I'm glad I dont need to deal with "homeboy" anymore thats for sure :dance013:

not me. My peeps dont like to compressed. It turns out better if you dont compress it. I alwys vac seal but I dont suck out all the air out. I leave a cushion so the buds dont get smashed. there's no way someone I know would pick compressed bud over none. The heads get smashed ruing the bag appeal. aroma stays intact for allot longer ..

My friends appreciate the quality difference between real homegrown and commercially produced weed. They'd pick 3g of homegrown over 5g commercial any day.

You might be the only one....there is also drying by stuffing paper grocery bags and leaving on the roof...leaches chlorophyll, makes 'Acapulco Gold'

I'd assume most around here go for quality over quantity.

I like to compress it a little when drying to slow down the process somewhat. It's often very dry here in Denver, and I believe that slowing the process improves the flavor & aroma. I like to ease the dryness down into simon's cure zone, keep it there for an extended period of time. If I lived somewhere very humid, I'd probably proceed differently. I don't trim tightly, either, because the sugar leaves smoke nearly as well as the flowers. With the traditional hang upside down to dry method, those small leaves lay over & protect the surface trichomes from abrasion, too.

I get buds with a traditional old school look that aren't mashed all to hell, either. They hold moisture well, so periodic extractions from the jar don't degrade the buds still curing. If some genius hadn't invented grinders, I'd have to use a knife & cutting board. Of all the things that changed in the years I was out of the cannabis scene, grinders are probably the most practical innovation. Well, other than European & Canadian seed banks. Gotta love 'em.

Here is an idea. We all stop compressing pot - whether intention or accidental(even homeboy that used to keep it down his pants.hahaha). If people don't like it send them elsewhere. Eventually people would realize the best buds are coming uncompressed. I know where I am from that compressed commercial look brings prices down, the most expensive herb around here is airy and light , but smells, looks and tastes great. Also Hammerhead got it right, compressing the buds break of the resin heads and leave less drug on the compressed weed.
