Anyone build their own grow tents?

I currently use a dr150 and a hydrohut 3 by 3. I love them. However, I'm looking for a bigger setup and can't justify $1000 for the 10 by 10 one.

With that in mind, has anyone built their own hut? I was thinking of frame construction similar to how you would build a house. I was even thinking of insulating it using the foam sheets that you normally use with drywall at home depot(sound insulation). The sides would be lined with panda plastic as well. I was also thinking of installing a mini split in there. Anyone do this or anything remotely similar?

My gripe with the 10 by 10 is that the openings aren't where I'd like them and the construction isn't sturdy enough to hold my big scrubbers. Also, using wood studs would allow me to mount stuff how I'd like.

Links would be awesome!

I'm currently building a 4x9x7h enclosure that I can disassemble and move whenever needed. It comes apart into pieces that will fit the bed of the truck with the removal of 14 screws. The ends are 1/4" plywood stapled and glued to a frame of 2x4's. Each end an the floor are separate pieces. There are 2x4's that run the length of the top front and back corners. The top, front and back are made from one piece of panda plastic. The front opens with 3 zippers so that one of the whole large sides opens in 2 panels. The whole piece of panda can be unvelcroed to be removed and reinstalled later.

We did a dry build with just the framing parts yesterday, but I'm waiting on some supplies to come in to really install it. By the end of the year, it'll be hooked up with 2000w, a mini-split and CO2. I'll post pics of the initial 1000w build when we put it together.

This is our prototype for this design, and it seems really sturdy but also reasonably portable. We have access to a cabinet shop, and plan to put 4 of these with a similar unit for veging in a house next year. I think that we're going to work out some kind of floor drain set up that will let run to waste in my coco in any room that I decide to put one of these in.

Yeah, built two side by side. Holds a 4 x 4 with a 1K. Roll up doors. panda filmed the rest. About $220 a box.

It makes the pot....

my original cab was divided in two ( half 200w cfl / half 200w hps)

3'x 2' x 6'H

I eventually took down the divider and upgraded to a 400w hps hortilux once those vegged nicely

say pandemic, can you detail the parts used in construction of your two tents... kind of have the same idea, but have yet to decide on tent or cab... basically want to run two 1k 4x4x4 tent/cabs... 12/12 in both 0-12hrs/13-24hrs... 12/12 from seed... please post specs, if possible...

grow tents are really easy to design and build if you use 2x2s they are more than strong enough and makes construction like putting together leggos. wrap her in some panda film using a staple gun and duct tape and your set. just cut holes where you need em.

To dark_ronin: I'll get together a list and take some better pics of how I did corners and such. Gimme a day or four.

Liquid 69: That is pimp for a small grow.

say killabrown, checking out your situation... where did/do you vent the hot exhaust from the ac?... directly into the room it is in?... was thinking of re-routing the hot exhaust from the ac into pvc pipes for root warmth... read that in a mag ' bout energy conservation... would it work?

I couldn't find a tent that fit my space requirements. After reading a post on building a closet extension, I decided to build my own tent. It's 22"x5'x7'. I run it sealed during lights on, and vented at lights off. 600w HPS right now.

As a result of this thread and my own temp problems trying to cool a 10x10 room with no success.

I built this yesterday took like 6 hours,Made from the silver insulation board .I hooked my portable 10,000 btu a./c to it.Now its it goes down to like 68 degrees ,i hve to enclose the thermostat somehow or it wont shuttoff .The chamber stays 68 degress at night and exausts into the veg room which stays at 86 .

Then i took my cmh hood with built in ballast and added another 250 watt fixture i was using along side , as well as made air duct holes ,what a bitch that was ,So now im at 610 hps using 2 different ballasts/bulbs combined....360 conversion and 250 hps

Its so cold inside im certain adding a single 1000 hps would be no problem.its got me thinkin ,but the ac is 900 watts ,im gonna shutter to see this first electric bill.
