I've been lotsa times but it's prolly been close to 10 yrs for me. Planning a trip this August. I used to take one of my kids with me, now they're all grown. It was my daughter's favorite times, and I think she went 4 or 5 times, until she was perhaps 14 or 15. She's now 24 and she wants to go with me! so, this spring we're both getting some bikes and will be riding down the I-90 together! She's gonna have to learn to ride a motorbike first, so I'm thinking like an 800cc V-twin, such as an Intruder or Honda VTX. I don't know what I'm gonna get yet, sold my heritage softail about 7 yrs ago.

thinking about it again, I've been there four times already but not in awhile. It's different bikes and people every time I go but it became 'the same old thing' after the 2nd visit to me, in fact on my last trip to Sturgis in '99 I took off after day 3 and toured Wyoming instead.

I can't do Daytona this year as I have some obligations planned for March already & so Sturgis might be the relief valve I choose to blow off some steam.

I hope you & your daughter have a great time bro....... remember shiney side up & FTW

Dont be a statistic. Theres news stories every year of roadblock drug searches of bikers on I-90 west going to Sturgis. They film all the fake canister drug holders like the soda cans and shaving cream, etc.

Youre better off taking I-35 south and cutting across Iowa and head north once you get to South Dakota. No search roadblocks that way and not too far out of the way.

Well, I travel east going to Sturgis on the I-90. I have probably been there every year in the '90's and have never seen road blocks, nor have I ever been searched. But, at my age, and with short hair, I don't look like the typical stoner either, I'm a med patient.

Hey maybe some of us going can gather 'round once there for a glass of beer. To me, the place is just a DESTINATION, I don't think I've ever stayed more than two or three days.

I've been there once. I doubt I'll be there. I'm planning on moving as soon as my settlement check comes. Don't know where yet. The house I was waiting for was sold. According to the RE Agent the people who bought it, tore it down and donated the lot to Habitat For Humanity. I know I'm off subject, but I've been looking all over the place. Haven't seen anything cheap in SD, and I've been a little hopeless since that house sold. I don;t think I'll ever be the same.
