Wow

Sounds like it would work in the northern US even on a cloudy day. I'm not famillar with "Color Rendering Index" I imagine that it would be both blue & red balanced, I'm writing Santa

Seems like an awesome idea, but for the purpose of growing, I would goto the extent to custom make something that would capture more light than those dinky thing that they sell.

I've seen similar things before, but none that utilized fiber optics, so they were no where near as efficient.

But this gives me some really good ideas. I have been planning on once I move into a house, to use solar and wind mills to provide my electricity for my LED grow setup. Doing something like this ontop of it would make an excellent addition to a grow setup. Hey, free energy is worth it, even if you got to pay a lot in the beginning, it keeps suspicion off the grid.

it might work (although i doubt it), but in the winter you cant extend the natural hours of daylight.

It would totally work. They're talking one system delivers 750 - 100 square feet of light. If you use that in a space thats even about 20 square feet, it would work great. The only problem with this particular system is that it filters UV light out.

In winter you could use a suplemental light source once the sun goes down or behind clouds, you'd still save energy and it would not add heat to your grow space. Almost an ingenius idea for growers who have the money to play with but dont want to be on the grid for it.
