I find it difficult to use on plants in my closet. also should i be looking for trichs on leaves around the hairy bud sites?

Don't use it under hps lighting, as the color of the light will make the trics look amber when they are not.

I usually snip a sugar leaf off, put it in an empty cd case so the sample doesn't move when I'm looking

Another good thing to do is rest the scope on the desk and gradually slide it up to your sample. This helps to keep your image nice and steady. Then lean left & right, up & down to survey an area on the bud part. Turn bud over & repeat.

Most everyone does at first, then we wonder why the hell we bought the thing lol.Snip off a sugar leaf and set it on a black or white backround. Its important to keep batteries fresh in these things when they go a little weak they tend to give off a "false amber",you need the light to be good and bright. Why they used a yellow lamp instead of a daylight is beyond me,it could be a much better unit with a whiter lamp

I had the same difficulties using the thing...shaky, shaky, shaky!

I like the idea of clipping off a little sugar leaf (great term, btw) and putting it in a cd case to hold it steady.

Do you think that viewing one leaf will give you an accurate read for the ripeness of the whole plant? When I was checking my trichs I would look at 5 or 6 different areas of the plant to try and get a thorough account.

I use mine on the plant, with the lights off. Put the end of the scope touching the plant lightly, and then adjust it. I had a hell of a time when I first got mine. Its best to practice with a small piece put on a table with the lights dim.

With a little practice you can even take pics with with you scope and digital camera. Just line it all up and snap away. Be patient when you try this. The first time can be pretty tricky
