I have one of these, isn't nasa tech or anything but it works and is cheap, I have a 500gb dvr and it can take up 8 cameras with infrared.you only get a little distance like 30ft at dark but i'm happy with them
just purchased a 4 camers set with dvr for ~$132.00. lacked the monitor & HDD but I had those. I Looked for the site but can't find it.
They are basically commodities now, shouldn't have to spend an arm & a leg to get one.
If you have an old computer with a video card you can just get the camera and some cabling. PCI video cards are cheap, 1 for each camera
will allow you to record each input I think. The software is free basically.
You might check Costco. They have an awesome return policy, that you may need. I have found that many of the bundled systems have fairly low resolution cams. If someone rips me, I want to count the whiskers on their chin, not see a "shadowy figure"...
Nothing wrong with a high res game camera, with invisible IR illumination, either.
Stay safe!
I don't know the current situation but the security DVR marketing has been very deceptive. If it matters to you, make sure full resolution is available on all channels simultaneously.
What options are available if one has limited internet bandwidth?
I used to use some simple IP camera which would allow me to view remotely. I could pan/tilt and while chopping it was function in keeping an overall eye on the property.
I'm not limited to bandwidth restrictions with only limited 3g internet availability to me. I typically pay for a 2-3 GB of data per month. I'm assuming this type of IP camera would chew through my bandwidth if viewable at all.
Can anyone recommend something that would simple send me a TXT image when motion is sensed. It'd be nice if someone walked by my garage.. I get a clear imagine of the situation. Someone walks by the back door.. I get a snapshot sent to me.
Any systems that do this?
Furthermore any ADT like systems that monitor for intrusion, but not subscription based and call me only during a compromised sensor.
in the northeast we have a store called harbor freight..
here you go dude. its not a bad system.. I just wouldn't hook it up to internet.. unless ur not going to have cameras shooting anything illegal (Growroom) ..
