If you guys like film, check out David Lynch films, they're always weird. Twin Peaks, the series, was so fun to watch.

Also, check out 200 Blows, its an old french movie, but its damn good.

I'm a war movie fan, myself. But i like all film, seriously.

I thought this was an indie/obscure movie thread. Keep 'em coming.

I've enjoyed the iranian(I think) movies Children of Heaven and to a lesser extent The Color of Paradise. The director Majid Majidi's other films are "meh" IMO though.

To add to Koyanisqatsi, there's Chronos and Baraka. Same style: an artful, dialogue free documentary of the natural and human world.

Fantastic Planet was more of a psychedelic romp through the drug induced art style of the 70s. Certainly a unique experience, but not exactly what I'd call a good movie.
I don't remember restricting the topic to indie/obscure. All i request is GOOD CINEMA. and so far, that's what i've recieved :)

I have Directv/TiVo, and yes, its worlds better than ondemand. BUT. BUUT...
If you're in college and dont want to shell out the cash for Directv, ondemand is great.
Sopranos, Oz, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Six Feet Under, The Wire
Weeds used to be alright
ADULT SWIM OnDemand!

OnDemand made college bearable.

oh baby do you know the good HBO Shows :headbange

The Sopranos :headbange :headbange :headbange :headbange :headbange
Oz is also one of my favorite HBO series. Actually, all of the ones you listed are amazing

Weeds..I dunno what happened. once it got mainstream attention it seems like the writers started writing for the ratings. I must admit that this season has been hilarious thus far, so at least there's still a point to watching, right? :)

First season of weeds was landmark television. Second season...old news...

Sopranos was good from the first 5 minutes that it came on tv. The last season was kind of up and down, but they really did build the characters a lot more...they seemed more real, and you could see the motivation for all the insanity. I dont know, i took film study in school, so i constantly read WAY into everything i watch.

Oz was amazing, i wish there was more of it to cherish. The Wire was really really good once you got into it. And, i lived very close to b-more, so it was like "Hey i know that place!" like every 5 minutes.

Entourage is good, but i cant really tell you why i like that show...i dont really understand why myself. Its probably just jealousy.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is just an amazing continuation of one of the funniest shows ever, Seinfeld. Larry David is so freaking funny, he brought tears to my eyes on numerous occasions.

Six Feet Under just makes you cherish your own life just a little bit more. Morbid, but touching, very weird.

Other (cable) tv shows that i think are at least decent are Mad Men on AMC, and Burn Notice on USA. Good characters. Plus, Bruce Campbell is just a pimp, hands down.

Speaking of which, Pretty much anything with Bruce Campbell is a classic (at least an automatic cult classic) The whole Evil Dead series was awesome, i just saw Army of Darkness a couple of nights ago for the first time in forever, man what a great one. Also, for those that havent seen Bruce being awesome: Bubba Ho-Tep. THE END.

P.S.

If you like Oz, i think you'd at least appreciate Law and Order: SVU. I know, i know, its LAWANDORDER, but give it a chance, trust me.

Apparently the makers of Oz and SVU are like buddies or something, because they use a lot of the same people in their shows...but with a TWIST!

The criminals from Oz are usually LEO on SVU, and the other way around, very weird if your a true Oz fan. I'm not going to go into huge detail or anything buuut... Chris Keller as a freaking Sex Crimes officer??? it just seems all too eerie .... or perfect?

i dunno about that film school comment, Arctic. Looks like you need to be reading way more into The Sopranos ^_^. Ex SOPRANOS SPOILER did you notice how Tony walks in with a bag of Oranges (Godfather style) in the last ep? What happens in the Godfather...? Did you notice how the guy sitting at the bar in the last scene is wearing a 'Members Only' jacket, and the first ep of the season is titled 'Members Only'..the second one is titled 'Join The Club' (when tony goes into the coma..sees his cousin at that house (death))

anyway, that's just off the top of my head. there are tons of things like that in Sopranos which is one of the reasons its the best TV show of all time, IMO. That's just scratching the surface..don't get me started on the personality disorders and the beautiful way David Chase conveyed them..

anyway, I do watch SVU lol...seems to always be on TV.

So weird that you said that, about the oranges and jackets, my friend and i were talking about this like less than a week ago :) One of those stoned brainstorming/piecing it all together type convos haha. Our conclusion was that we wanted to get high with Tony and Adrianna, and that Tony knows the meaning of life:
"There's an old Italian saying: you f*** up once, you lose two teeth" haha :)

And yeah, SVU is always on... every other day is a marathon!

I figured it would be nice to post the most underrated film of all time here, Eureka by Shinji Aoyama. The classics are mostly easy to find and well documented, so i wanted to share this little known modern classic.
Eureka is one of the most beautifull movies i've ever seen, imo a classic of the 21st century. I found this movie is available on amazon, i cannot stress enough this is a mustsee for anyone who likes alternative cinema. Just buy the movie, do it, now.

 Classic! I love Curb, it's such a great show. It's true, he is a victim of circumstance.
