i've been reading damn near everything i could find since i was a wee little fucker. from comic books, hunting and fishing mags, all the way to the Bible. used to get in trouble in school for reading ahead of what the class was on, and for hiding under my covers after "bed time" with a flashlight and a good book. this paid off in high school, when i aced both history and american history because i'd already read it all before. right now, i'm almost done with Thomas Paines "The Rights of Man", a book i somehow overlooked in my youth. give me your favorite titles and writers, in case i've missed them too...:smoke:

Why YES!
For the Cormac McCarthy fans, this is a must read:

Since you ask for titles and authors...
I've got a shelf of Larry Niven, the best 'hard science' fiction writer
Anything by McCarthy. I've got a stack of Joseph Campbell, the 1st 6 Dune books, and Robert Heinlein

Currently, I'm reading 7 Pillars of Wisdom and re-reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. I used to read it yearly, but life's gotten in the way.
Here's some pix. The shelves have changed a bit and I bought more books. I have a problem:

ps-I have 2 more shelving units...

Thanks for sharing :good:

I got into reading through my dad.

I'm so bad with names, i have to check my boxes

First good author that came to my mind is Don Winslow.
Really liked his Cartel-Saga of books. One movie out of this saga is Savages. Good movie but the book is better, like always.
Current books on my shelf are Hashish by R. Clarke and The Big Book Of Buds 1-4 for research.
😁

So you saw my pot-book collection? 'Hashish by R. Clarke' seems to be out of print and is going for outrageous money. did you notice the Cherniak 'Books on Hashish'? Some of them are signed. I also found a couple sets of his playing cards and 'trading cards'.

I got more pot books but they're good to read once a year. 😁
Didn't know about the crazy prices and just checked. Couldn't believe my eyes but will never sell mine.
Don't have a Cherniak but you are very lucky, must have been a very rare and lucky find!

Luck had nothing to do with it. As Cherniak says in 1 of his autographs,'I had the patience of Job'; took a year to get that book, 1st copy in the US

Cormac McCarthy
he wrote that book called the walk, right
/i might be worn on the title but it was a dystopian story of a guy taking a walk

TC Boyle had a column in a German daily newspaper and he said that "The Road" by McCarthy was the right and appropriate reading in today's times.☹️ This book is a masterpiece and the darkest and most hopeless thing I have ever read. TC Boyle is my favorite author, by the way. Water Music is my favorite book, highly recommended.

Just finished my sixth time through Ishmael by Daniel Quinn...

I always have a couple copies in paperback for eager minds and inquisitive college kids.
