Any point to applying for an MMAR right now?

I was about to apply for a mmar so that I could grow my own medicine however the ontario court thing happened and now the conservative majority.

Where do things stand right now? basically conservatives will appeal the ontario ruling and probably jam up the courts for awhile?

That's totally possible, but it has nothing to do with applying for your exemption.

If you use cannabis for medical purposes ( we all do ) have the papers filled out asap....

The rules may change in time. Everything is speculation at this point..

yeah, i would like to get the ball rolling, however with doctors charging money to sign the forms and needing to have a grow location locked down before they'll approve it.

I don't want to waste money just to have the government make med growing illegal

Fuck em'.. go for it, as far as I know the cons haven't made any comments about dismantling the MMAR. You will be kicking yourself if you don't get your card once the mandatory minimums are in place.

I am waiting to hear back from my referral and have been concerned as well but you know what..the alternative is shitty.I AM worried that I will be on a "list" the government has-if they stop the MMAR program they would use said list to find people to attempt prosecution.

I will worry about that donkey ride if the time comes-in the meantime I need better relief , years are being taken from my life from pain and ensuing illness.Even if one can get relief for a short period of time-that must be fairly valuable.

I fear the worst but perhaps the rumblings of a more center of the road approach might go in effect...we can only hope.

Maybe create a minimum cost space for yourself and if the climate becomes more accepting in the future-spend the big bucks for a high tech space...does anyone think that would be a valid way to go? or would losses be to great to make it worthwhile?

i dont. it may have benefits, but i take it as a mood elevator generally. i dont think that qualifies as a medical use. its no different than taking any drug you dont need for anything other than enhancing your perceptions or positivity. i am one of the few who finds the medical movement to be unfair to the vast majority of us who arent med users. it should be equality for all. we can all drink booze over a certain age, it doesnt have to be medical. seems an odd double standard. both are used by the vast majority for recreational uses. positive effects it may have on their bodies are just happy side effects, not medical use.

It all depends how you look at it.
I also use cannabis as a mood elevator. My doctor recommended it

I was referring to the legal / staying out of jail aspect.
Where you can be medical or illegal.

I totally agree its unfair to the people who don't want to go see a doctor. I was one of them for 10 years..

I now have a great job that will be terminated if I'm charged with growing or possession.

If you can do it now. Even if the laws are changed in the future often the government will "grandfather" licenses/permits in other words people with permits will continue but no new permits will be granted.

Curious how you know that, thats how it works with firearms but they are two very seperate things. Speaking of which the cons promised to get rid of the long gun registry..

If you read my post OFTEN the government grandfathers permits/licenses Ive seen it with firearms, drivers licenses and trade permits cant see why this would be different. FWIW having a permit sure helps you sleep better at night and that cant be bad for anyone's health

got my renewal 10 weeks ago, and my change of address on friday. imvho, this section of health canada is not even close to being shut down, if anything is is expanding as the populous awakens to it as citizens and police alike are very unaware of the programme even almost 10 years after its creation. it will be progressive i assure you, the more people empower themselves and grow or at least access a power plant for natural remedy, d

gonna bump this,

we're a couple weeks post elections now, any concise news? aside from stoned rantings and uninformative news articles, this whole thing seems still up in the air.

the 90 day thing is pretty much null and void though since the conservatives are appealing it correct?

I dont see any reason to not apply. There is a MM program currently opperating in canada and until I hear anything from Health Canada it will be business as usual. I believe since the govt appealed the decision the 90day rule is out the window seeing as when you appeal a decision it has to go back to court to find out if the judge erred in there ruling or not. Give me one good reason not to apply? If you dont apply the government wins.
