any one evey used auto pots and air stones with a light soil perlite mix?

Auto pots like as in sub irrigated planters? If so, I loved them. I didn't do any real testing, but it felt like the plants were able to drink more water and grow a little larger compared to the same volume of dirt in a conventional pot. Smart pots seemed to be the best in that regard, but i found them to be a bitch to hand water. I think I want to try them with NoobwannaB's method.

yeah thats the posh term lol ,

i was worried about the issue of over watering so going to keep soil mix light and with air stone in the bottom hopefully they should grow well, cheers :tiphat:

what kind of soil did you use mate?

I run a mix of sphagnum peat, compost, and lava rocks mostly. The thread "Making Organic Potting Soil 101" in the organic soil section explains it more thoroughly.

Couldn't say as im unfamiliar. I would talk to verdantgreen if you were interested in making potting soil, as he's knowledgeable in what's available across the pond.
