Anyone know whether Kariba Surprise is available out there anywhere? I'd crawl to the top of Mt Everest on hand and knees over trails littered with broken glass to get my hands on some of these, however, you won't find them growing in Nepal.

Kariba Surprise was a standard line of African Seeds back in the day. They're a Zambian sativa that with a particularly potent, electric high and are able to handle high humidity environments well.

thx!

I think Kariba is Zimbabwe not Zambia, I grew some Zambian Copper and its a superb African sativa - clear, calm energy with warm body buzz, zero couchlock or anxiety.
As for Kariba, kangativa grew some and said they outperformed all the other Africa strains he was growing, I would also love to try some. Good luck.

i think it will be hard to source it again, was an offering of the long time defunct african seeds company (what a shame)... loved their ethiopean highland :/

blessss
ps.: even if you find original stock, the seeds would be about 10 years old or more...

They're actually from the Zimbabwe side of the Zambesi River which borders Zambia...the pure strain is out there, thanks to 20'thai's conservation efforts, but now held very tightly as parental stock for hybrids...

This is a strain i was interested in Since the Big book of buds Vol#2 ,The description above was amazing .Than later i learned she held the Frankincense Trait an I Really wished i could one day aquire stock

Much Respect to 20'thai an all his preservation work .

This goes to show how Important Spreading an preserving is ,Afican seeds had some very rare Special strains .We have Few breeders( ACE/CBG ) now offering Pure landraces lets be thankful an Keep the strains alive .

thanks bushy. damn geography would have had me on the wrong side of the river. that could be any hostile place. ain't planning on going there right away so it's sort of reassuring that 20'thai still has 'em under his fist as they couldn't be in better hands; just I hope he lets a few slip from between his fingers somewhere further along the trail, like a little offering for the hungry birds.

gotta dream about going to a place like that someday, despite the limitless dangers of adventuring into those sorts of regions. man that could be scary.:yoinks:

My wife sailed the Zambesi and smoked Kariba Surprise in 2000 and said it was the strongest herb she encountered in Africa, but still she preferred the honey sweet Malawi Gold. 20'thai actually gave them all to Kangativa, along with his entire seed collection - he said he had found his Grace and didn't have a need for them anymore. He couldn't have given them to a nicer guy...

So there might be some growing there still? I saw some narrow leafed thing growing in Zambia it looked like it was going to take a long time to flower. Late summer and still no preflowers. No name though and it was a long way north of the Zim border anyhow. There seemed to be a bit of weed floating around in Livingstone but that's also a fair way from Kariba.

Will look out for that one next time I visit the motherland. I didn't realise Zimbabwean weed was held in such high regard.

Hey Bushy,

I just missed out on these when African Seeds went down and it's had me hankering for 'em ever since.
I understand your wife's perspective on the Malawi G. Still my overall favourite landrace smoke for it's energising buzz, it's flavour and smoothness.

Guess Kanga's the man. His green thumb shows he'd do justice for anything that fell into his hands, bit like 20'thai himself in that regard.

Hope them hills are finally drying out for you!
