Hey all, another thread just reminded me to start this thread.

Besides medication what ways do you deal with anxiety? List your methods. heres a few

-Swimming

-Target shooting

-Sex

-Guitar and music

I noticed a lot of people have anxiety here so I was just interested to see how icmagers deal with anxiety

i dont use firearms, but im down with sex and music. for my anxiety, i read a good deal and play a lot of music (several different instruments).
 
I place myself in an invisible bubble that makes me unaffected by other people. If someone should penetrate my self defense bubble for any reason... POW!

I really like to lift weights and work out to help relieve stress and anxiety. Smoking buds helps depending on it's lineage. But when all else fails and I feel like I'm going to freak out or explode, I got a script for Xanax. I hardly ever take it but it is nice to have on hand just in case. I am a really big dude so I don't want to get carried away and break something......or someone.

There's is nothing like getting high and stretching. Just call me limber legs

I read so much because of University, that I'll be damned if I read for leisure.
I've also been watching David Attenborough's "planet earth". The scenery is fucking BEAUTIFUL. That makes me at ease.
With that in mind, going for a walk is fantastically cathartic...I come back home clear headed and energized.

I guess any kind of exercise is good medicine.

how i deal:
smoke, but dont get TOO high
exercise
take a hot shower
sleep it off or lay down n be calm



for stretching, i dont like to. cuz then you're not as fast/strong if you're too flexible.:)

I can do 100 push-ups in 20 minutes!

In all honesty being flexible doesn't make you less strong/fast. In fact I'd say it's just the opposite...personally speaking.

I think having it in your mind to be less stressed is the first thing that can help with anxiety. Whatever you do to achieve that purpose is second to your intentions.

For instance, you can decide to go running, but if you sit there and obsess about all your problems when you run, then your not helping yourself as much. I think if you go and decide your going to relax and enjoy your run, then you will be balancing out your system....and when you return you can look at your "problem" from a new, higher perspective.

Same with herb I guess. Make the intention to really enjoy the herb, and feel good...

Sometimes when I'm feeling crappy/yucky/shitty... I like to meditate. Just totally relax into my body. If you focus on your body and your breath....imagine you are on the side of a river, and all your thoughts are the logs floating by on the river...eventually you just learn to be in your body. Its thoughts that create anxiety, so if you get away from those you have a temporary escape.

So like, anything you do that can help you escape from your anxious thoughts can help.... then again though, sometimes you need to probably figure out what you can do in your life to change it...neways just some 2 cents.

Cool yea some medication will fuck u up. I have a freind tryin to quit xanax which he's been on for over a year and he's freakin out. Your only supposed to take that shit for a few months. I take seroqual cuz I'm also schizo
