Ant Invasion

Yup.... gotta new pest in the grow op.

They are feasting on the particles of sugar and sugar infused water around the place where I make my homemade c02. They are inside of the tent. These are not the red or large black ants you see outdoors, they are the super tiny little house ants, the ones that get around old soda cans and spilled food or candy.

Any possibilities I should rush to eradicate? Or are they fine? I dont see any damage, I just hate working in the garden and the little fuckers crawling all over my arms and neck and shit lol. Really irritating.

I had the same thing going in the grow room (in basement), but they were the big ants from outside. Like stoned-trout says you don't need aphids as they ruin plants. I bought some ant traps at the big box store and that killed them. The little tiny ants like grease better so best get them before they get into your butter and jam.

These type of ants are a general nuisance and a major pain in the ass where I live. I have also noticed a few in my garden. Had them bad when we moved. I had tried everything to get rid of them. They will get worse if untreated.

Ant Terro was the ticket. you put a dab of this clear stuff on little coated cardboard pieces that come in the box the size of a postage stamp. It takes about 10 days to two weeks but it eradicates them as they ingest it and carry it back to the nest.

Pretty reasonable stuff as I believe it is borax suspended in some kind of simple sugar.

I use boric acid. I mix some with sugar slightly wet to make a paste.

They haul it to the nest.

Then I mix some with mayonaise. Some times they will prefer one over the other.

Second boric acid. I'd broadcast 20 Muel Team Borax in all the traffic areas and that seems to do the trick.

I went with boric acid first as well as a mix of corn meal and boric acid. For what ever reason they didn't go for it much. Tried the ant 'hotels' and they where useless and kind of expensive.

Then I found the box of Cookie Crisp cereal buried deep in the back of a cabinet from the previous owner... and hit em with borax.
