Police bust tomato grow operation in Pullman apartment
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

PULLMAN, Wash. -- A Pullman landlord notified police about a grow lamp in a closet, and police got a search warrant for a drug raid.

Eight officers with guns drawn surprised three roommates in the apartment last weekend and discovered they were growing tomatoes.

Commander Chris Tennant says it's the department's duty to investigate all credible complaints regarding marijuana growing operations in Pullman.

they should have had a closet full of japanese maples, as they are very similar looking to MJ .

I blame the landlord for being a nosy prick.

ya for real the fucking land lord could have just talked to them and seen what was up instead of calling the cops.....and IF they were growing mj maybe give them a warning to stop or get evicted.

remind me to grow tomato plants in tandem with my marijuana plants once I start growing

that way once I get wind the popo is coming all I would have to do its toss the marijuana plants down the disposal. No need to break down your grow, and once the heat blows over your setup is still intact :joint:

Well, now that that is out of the way, they can get down to the real business.

I thought that the police were unable to get a warrant based on hearsay (landlord saw a light in the closet)?

yes this is a GREAT idea... grow other stuff, then cart away your plants only to return. but in reality, would you really go back to growing your plants after being searched? i'm not sure i would...

I think we should talk as many people as possible into buying lights and growing their own tomatoes. Shit, can you buy a decent tomato in your grocery store? You can't where I live.

And if enough people have them, (and a few of them get visited by overzealous dumbass cops) pretty soon it will stop being a reason for suspicion.

So maybe everyone should buy their Mom a grow light for Mother's Day, huh?

i would of loved to have been there when the renters confronted the landlords.. i would have been like wtf are you doing snooping in my room looking through my shit..lawsuit..the real question is how do we stop landlords from fucking snooping around apartments.. put up cameras , put locks on bedroom doors.. i dont see any "emergency" that would have a landlord looking in a dark bedroom and opening peoples closets in the dark..

One of two things needs to happen:

1) The judge needs to be relieved of his/her duties for signing such a warrant.
2) An officer needs to get fired for falsifying the warrant (if that's what happened).

The guilty party should also be fined and maybe even imprisoned. The sad thing is that neither will happen because the police were "acting in good faith.'' Whatever the fuck that means....
