Nationalism never got us anywhere, lets go back to the topic at hand.
it's all in the parenting or lack thereof..
first of all, the govt ties parents' hands by not allowing parents to raise their children effectively as they seem fit. i remember in high school, sitting in the nurse's office, this girl came in and the discussion of parents hitting came up for some reason. this girl mentioned that if her mother ever hit her, she'd call child services and get her in trouble. what's sad is, that shit is not uncommon! parents are more afraid of their children than anything and it's fault of these politicians who under the guise of child protection advocate for parental castration.
then you have the private sector which is responsible for longer hours and lower pay. parents are working harder and for less and they don't have enough time to be parents anymore. but, i will keep that for the lower income individuals.
at the root of it, you just have parents who simply don't give a ****. they're too damn busy catering to themselves and not taking the time out to teach their children anything - no morals, no values, and definitely ZERO social skills. how many times do i walk thru downtown manhattan and rarely do i ever see white children with white mothers, usually only foreign, black or hispanic, caretakers. you've got two working parents who are both making a good chunk of change and a child who doesn't know who to call mommy - the woman who they hardly see or the woman who's in it for the paycheck.
next you've got the single parent homes who suffer from both the above issues, parent that works too hard and relies on a caretaker who most likely doesn't give a damn about their child.
in all of these instances, in which case does the child get a chance to be taught anything beyond that initial almost-primal baby phase of lash out when something is wrong. someone needs to teach these children something and prison system is NOT going to do it because they are quite worse than the caretakers and babysitters. who's left? media, environment.
sure we can blame all of these factors but at the end of the day, it's the parents' fault! it's the parents who aren't taking the time out for whatever reason (some of which are stated) to give their children some decent level of upbringing. and they've gotta do more than yap off at the mouth.
the guns will be available but before there were guns, there were other weapons. before these other weapons, there were non-weapons. keep in mind, teachers are still getting banged in the head with chairs. and when there's nothing to grab, some bare knuckle brawling is not far from thought. people will lash out however they can. the lack of guns won't stop someone from acting out. they'll just find another way.

Regarding gun laws: they mean NOTHING, because what criminal is going to abide by them? Registered gun owners are not the people who are doing drive-by shootings. Every law passed hinders my ability to legally possess a weapon, while doing JACK for controlling illegal guns. Anybody who has gone through the permit process knows it's not something you show a Radio Shack Battery Club card for identification (unlike voting).
In the incident linked to below, a shooter was subdued by two students who were licensed to carry. At the time this incident was reported, this crucial fact was IGNORED by the New York Times and other major media outlets.

Laws are not and never have been effective in preventing crime,that is not their intention to begin with.Some would have you believe that though.Laws are designed to specify consequences to actions,you can pass all the laws in the world and it'll never prevent crime.Consequences arent a priority of the criminal mind.

Just so everyone can see that the USA has not got it real bad. As you can see from the stats. On a whole there seems to be quite a lot of murders by firearms, but when you see per capita....well when your country has more people living in it things kinda level out a bit.
Maybe we should all start attacking South Africa, Colombia and Thailand about their gun totin' laws...
