How many more school shootings do you need before your politicians wake up to the reality that your weak gun laws are ****ed? When a 14 year old kid can walk into school with a gun in both hands SOMETHING'S A BIT WRONG

Cant think of any Constutional laws that would have stopped it.
There are laws in place, the problem is they're too WEAK. It's just far too easy to obtain guns in the US (not that anybody seems to have a problem with it!?) - this 14 year old kid had no problems getting 2, and not a day goes by without shootings somewhere, it's absolutely crazy.

To much gun money in Washington DC. Even if the Government abolished hand guns they would never be able to control them. When have they ever controlled anything they made illegal?

I have to agree with the above poster. You cannot control something by making it illegal We have too look at the root causes of handgun violence, which in the end are the same causes of all violence.

The main reason why I will always support an adults right to bear arms is because when a crime is committed against you, the police will ALWAYS show up after the fact. In most cases, "after the fact" is too late.

Go shove it, bloke. **** you and the rest of your aussies, I mean pussies. American adults are adults, unlike your island of loyal order-following cowards. No wonder I hear girls down there are dying to **** any guy who's not australian.

Adults take care of themselves, it's called responsibility. We decided not to have a queen to tell us what to do. Weapons are weapons, guns are effective from a distance. That's all, beyond that it is the person who decides to commit an act of violence.

Are you aware that you lost the only real man left in australia, when they came for your guns? That's right, they killed the real "crocodile dundee", the badass who inspired that character.

I have no respect for gun grabbers, who act like suckups to whatever government is in charge and expect to be protected by government.

Your kneejerk reactionary position is ridiculous, ,nothing would ever satisfy someone like you because say the guns are gone. . . when someone uses a lead pipe to kill then you will be trying to outlaw heavy pipes.

**** You!

whoa, cannafornia, our responsibility lies in teaching the youth of our nation how to NOT use violence to solve problems - at which we have obviously failed. what other countries get schools shot up by gun-toting youth??

total bullshit
you can buy a gun on most street corners in the US if you know the right people adult or 14 y.o.
I'm not anti gun if thats what you think I own a few guns but its just the sheer numbers of guns in the US and the weak laws that allow them to get into the hands of kids
and look at the results

in the Uk the cops do checks frequently on all gun owners and you better be up to the mark or loose them
all guns have to be accounted for and locked in a metal gun locker that is secured to a brick wall
all ammo has to be seperate from the guns and also securely locked away
even getting a license to own one is a major hassle as you need your doctors sig to say your sane and 3 other witnesses of good standing to vouch for you
even then you are very restricted as to what you can acctually own
most hand guns are banned and no automatic guns are allowed

it may be tough on us here as gun owners but I'd rather that than schoolkids gunning down there class mates
because there having a bad day

To be honest I'm surprised that it doesnt happen more often.

I think that teachers should be armed if this is the new way of dealing w/ things (well not so new)...and I think parents need to take more resposibility...and actually raise their kids for a change.

I didnt grow up in a city, and when I was 12 years old me and friends took guns to school, when I started driving @15 or 16 my truk always had a rifle or 2 visible on the rear window gun rack right in the school parking lot.

....but we had shooting ranges and could hunt nearby, and none of us ever considered violece w/ these guns.

I had "real guns" since I was about 8 years old, and was never allowed to have a toy gun...because I was raised that guns aren't toys.

it's not the guns fault....

My ex-wife is a teacher and she tried to get me to become one, as I had a couple degrees. I told her my idea of school supplies was a 9mm and some extra ammo in case I didn't kill all the unruly bastards with the first clip.

I can't imagine a gun in the hand of my ex-wife. No one would be safe! The problem in the U.S. is not the number of guns, It is the number of bad parents who don't even know their kids or what they are up to. Like Yukon, I grew up with a gun in my hand and hunted with my step-dad. I owned 3 guns of my own by the time I was 15. I would never have considered using them in someone I didn't like. That is what boots are made for, not guns.

If there is ONE gun in the world, and it is in private hands then there needs to be one gun for everybody or else Mr. One Gun becomes king. The cat is out of the bag, ,pandora's box is open and there is no turning back.

Secondofly, the school violence problem has EVERYTHING to do with bullying and adults on campus like teachers and principals, coaches not doing anything to stop it. The resulting slaughters are not admirable or good, but they are clearly resulting from something obvious that needs to be changed. Want to know how close i came to blasting away at my highschool? pretty frigging close. You have kids behaving like piranhas and picking each other apart, coaches instigating fights for their own amusement, all kinds of BS that needs to stop. I would like to see some stats on school violence, in schools that have uniforms. You do that, and you have a zero-tolerance policy for bullying and violence and school shootings will all but disappear.

So OP, don't you think that the restrictions make the guns useless for defense? There was a case recently in the US, where a junior olympic target shooter, a 12 year old girl was home with her siblings and someone came to murder them. The girl could not get to any weapons because her parents had them locked up tight, legally. So she escaped and went to call for help while the man murdered two children in a brutal way.

So many stories like that.

The joy and protection owning guns provides me out weights the negative aspects that guns provide. What are the odds that you or someone you know will be involved in a spree shooting? Less than an auto accident, right? Should cars be illegal? Should the government mandate we all wrap ourselves in foam padding when we leave our houses?

Its just another problem created by western society

Most places the people fear the government. Here we keep most of that fear in check with private gun ownership.

I would rather die from a lack of good gun laws than from a lack of shooting back.

One last point the places in the US with the most strict gun control, New York and Washington DC have some of the highest crime rates in our country.
