It wasn't too long ago I ran out of my beloved Romeo and Juliet NYCDxC99 phenos from JLP, so it goes without saying that I miss them...Juliet especially.
When NYCDxHaze came into town I knew I had to buy a bag if for no other reason than to get a sense of deja vu. Lets just say I got that and more.
As I peer into my jar, I am amazed by how similar this looks to my pheno of Romeo. Thin, dense nugs that are like looking back at the old photos of romeo...except with much more crystallization. Deep, thin, blade leaves that look somehow black with lush tropical green color; hazey looking.
The NYCDxHaze doesn't have the distinctive, grab-you-by-the-nostrils appeal that some pungent or skunky weed does. No intense aromas until ground: then you're awash in the classically Dieselish fumes: mint, herbal, sweat, slightest skunk, pinecones, metal, blend of pipe tobacco and hops, leather, and mild lemon.
The smoke, unfortunately, isn't as pungent or lovely. Leans much more towards the acrid and harsh, without too much lung expansion. Nutty, diesel-y tastes around the tar tastes, but still has an overall taste of curedness (butter, smoothness). Definetely has the intensity and roughness of Romeo without the 'green crack' effect of expando-Juliet.
High appears almost instantly as a heavy, almost tear inducing warmth behind the eyes and whispers quickly into your brain. You think for a second that you'll remain almost dreamlike and trippy like this with no body...but you'll be wrong on that.
The euphoria launch of the classic 'cut through metal' haze high lasts but a few seconds before the weight and heavy twitchiness of Diesel takes over. Chest stone increases within five minutes. Haze will intermittently cut back in with its amphetamine-'ding' feeling but mostly you're on the road to zombification. I'll sit there and stare at something for what must be a full minute.
Focus and concentration are weirdly affected: you are awash in thoughts about interesting things to research or look into, and you have the slight desire to create or work on something, but then the Deez is there to kick you back down.
My feeling is that two big hits of this pot is about perfect...anymore and i'm off into the deep-end. I enjoy that feeling at night, but I usually end up smoking in the daytime anyways so i've got to have something that won't leave me feeling tuckered out by the end of the day which this smoke eventually will - especially the more times you smoke it throughout the day.
Makes your face feel about ten times heavier than it actually is, too.
So basically I like buzzes where it feels like i'm riding above the buzz, fully in control. I like to go way out there from time to time but that can't be regular, daily type weed (see: GHaze). Expect to sleep if you smoke during the day.
