AN digital ballasts

B

Bud Bug

Should I try these out? I can get them tomorrow and would like to not deal with the radio interference if they do actually run a 100Mhz natively or are filtered hight frequency.

They look cool, should work with all bulbs, ie hortilux, I only wish they had an overdrive option for the 1000's. Great warranty, 6 month no question asked money back guarantee.I think it may be worth a look.

I forgot my camcorder so couldn't make a video but here's the initial scoop.

Plugged in the ballast and it makes the radio signal degrade like the other digital ballasts and the light bulbs HPS and MH both sound like electric shavers and very loud. Can't imagine 10 of them going on at once. I ran it for 10min the noise got about 10% less louder but was still there. Will look into this later tomorrow when I speak to the rep.

Are you saying the bulbs were making noise? How much was the bad boy? If this technology works, low frequency, I wonder how long before other ballast companies copy it?

Yes the bulbs themselves were waking the noise like a electric razor would. Also the radio next to the ballast lost most of the signal just like all the other digital ballasts I've tested.

The retail price should be in the $305-320 CDN

I'll make a video tomorrow of the noise.

have you made sure the bulbs are fully screwed in? if not this will cause them to make a humming sound similar to what you described. just a thought.

If I put it in any harder it would have broke the base. This was tested on a base mogul socket/octagon box for vertical bulbs and another reflector. Both bulbs made the same sound.

I'll video tape it in a few hours and repost back.

thought it was a bit of a long shot. might be worth ringing them up and see if its normal for them to make that noise. i've been looking forward to seeing how these perform. good luck with sorting it out.

I talked to the sales rep and he also noticed the same noise when he plugged it in. He say their "tech" guy told him the ballasts will do that with certain bulbs and the ballasts have burnt out Hortilux bulbs on occasion which sounds to me like a regular digital ballast.

I'm gonna hold off on testing 4 of them till I get more info as the noise would be annoying.

I'll make the video shortly.

+1, Thanks for the great info, why would AN bother selling a product that doesn't work. People are just going to be pissed and get their money back. They delayed the launch of the ballast for so long, why bother putting it out there if it doesn't work.

Yah not sure what want on. I'm no AN fan but was looking forward to their digital ballast that would create no radio interference and I'd be all over them even through its an AN product.

I'll have to get some more concrete info on the ballast and bulb noise next week.

Is it just me or does the silver name plate look all scratched, the lettering looks flaked, and the edges looks cut with a jigsaw. It's just another chinese ballast with a fancy paintjob. I would luv to see some testing video before purchasing these ballasts. Do they work with flips. Under the IEC receptacle it says SUNHORSE, is that the manufacturer.

There's actually nothing wrong with the silver plate, just looks like that as the silver has a plastic cover over it which can be peeled off. The font on the silver plate is suppose to be like that also and is not scratched its part of the graphic.

I was going to run 4 of these in a legal med grow but like you can see on the video the noise would just be too much. I'll hold off for now till I get a new version of the ballast. Now some people might not mind the noise so your mileage may vary.

Well I sure wasn't gonna run them with buzzing bulbs. Returned them the next day.
