1 device that draws 1000W is about 9 amps.

9amps x 3devices = 27 total amps, another 9 amps would be exceeding safe limits.

a CAP MLC8A will control 8 lights with a 40 amp service.

8000W \ 240 = 33.33 amps ...

There are two lines to make 240v so you essentially run twice as much watts at half the amperage compared to 120v.

4 on a 120v or 8 on a 240v, unless you want the 80% safety load like uv said then you'd go 7 on a 240.
