I've been on like at least 12-15 year quest for catpiss myself dude.
I first smoked weed which had an ammonia/urine like aroma and taste in the late nineties/early noughties.It was rumoured to have been grown in a large swiss greenhouse operation and was solid in terms of it's regularity and availability,up until the twin towers attack,which apparently saw anti terrorism measures being taken which also affected transit of the swiss herb.I saw white widow,white rhino and super silver haze from that operation.It was the SSH which had the catpiss.
It wasn't until several years later that my quest for the catpiss brought me to MNS/shantibaba and I realised that the swiss grown herb was quite likely grown by shanti or his associates,and conversations I had with shanti about certain aspects of the herb which only people 'x' distance up the foodchain would know about confirmed my suspicions.I immediately bought several packs of MNS ssh in both yellow and the later silver packs.I never found my catpiss unfortunately.
I will be subbed to this thread in the hopes of a definitive answer of which breeders seeds may give rise to plants which share those characteristics which I found so desirable all those years ago.

I wouldn't be surprised if one was to take Nevil's Haze and Super Silver Haze, inbreed and achieve the piss. It also makes me curious to use the Beanhoarder stock of Neville's Haze x Super Silver Haze in the quest or even using it to inbreed against the originals.
I've got a sativa pheno SSH x that reeks of piss. Not my favourite smell but the high is sublime. The piss smell fades a bit as it cures. It's also bug Armageddon and I've wondered if the smell may have something to do with that.

Besides the non-sweet/fruity ammonia there is also that "orange" (more the colour than the fruit, hard to explain) sweet ammonia "whiff" if it's present in very small concentrations. When being in the school lab I always thought somebody must have hidden weed somewhere because of that strangely pungent sweet stinky whiff that could be smelled here and there, and I know there have been strains like some Orange Bud I got from a coffeeshop in 2009 that also had a lighter version of this smell, but the really pungent ones have been gone for a very long time. The catty versions of many whites (snowhite, snowbud, white widow) have that typical smell without hazy or jacky notes, although our local snow white hasn't been bred in the direction of this pheno because I always got outvoted by the majority who hates the smell (or at least thinks it must hate the smell because of...oh that would be too much for here) but its still common in ~1/3 of the phenos.

Is Icmag just a bunch of moldy boof growers or what? Catpiss smells like catty thiols, not Ammonia. They've been quantified in the plant. Ammonia smells like ammonia. Weed should never smell like ammonia. And Window cleaner smells like butanol. Hilarious hearing this pro ammonia shit coming from a community who stupidly relates curing cannabis to curing tobacco leaves.

Ammonia is present in most living creatures urine I think, humans have ammonia in their piss anyway.
That's not a favorite of mine when it's too strong in the terpenes profile but it can create some interesting smells combined with other terpenes. I think Haze lines and their hybrids are where this smell is the most common. I have some Moby Dick (White Widow x Jack Herer) right now who developped a cat smell after drying, while flowering she was pungent, piney, lemony and now after 2 weeks in jar those smells combined to create a cat piss odor but not repulsive like the real stuff, it's strong and complex smell. I'm surprised how appealing it is me because I'm not a fan of pine or cat piss in my buds.

As someone who has smelled fresh and aged urine samples of countless healthy and diseased animals and humans alike, urine does not smell like ammonia. That's like saying poop smells like semen. You're might, but poop doesn't smell like semen.

Catpiss smells like tomcat spray, a normal common plant smell found in numerous plants that I smell daily, not like diseased litter box from a trailer park.
I'm about to mix up a yard of fresh potting mix for a custie. If I don't add sugar, the microbes won't have enough soluble carbon and will off gas ammonia. I know the smell very well. No one, absolutely no one [with a brain] wants to smoke ammonia weed.
